Help!! I germed and then so far nothing!

I germinated 2 seeds and they sprouted roots great, I put them in neoprene collars to use in my stinkbud aero system and they have been in there a week now and maybe only 1mm growth.

is my water bad? the neoprene too tight? not warm enough ( i can only keep it around 17-20 Celsius)?

any advice to get then growing better?

should i grow in dirt then clone?? I'm at a loss right now

what lights you using?

for your first grow you should try soil maybe.
temp seems fine wouldnt make too much of a difference, and i doubt your water is the cause of the problem.

Ill try and gets some pics tomorrow up, lights arent even hooked up yet because only the root has sprouted, no stem towards the top has come out yet, i have a 200w cfl waiting for when the time is right. should the lights be on even though the seed cannot see it through the neoprene?

Am I understanding this right: You placed the seeds, which have only produced a root, directly into neoprene collars? No net cups or medium underneath them?

If so, then either take out the neoprene collars and get some net cups, rockwool and hydroton (or any of the alternatives) and continue to germinate the seeds in that medium. Or else take the seeds and place them in soil and grow that way. The neoprene collars are generally only used to hold the stem of cuttings/clones that are already established.

if its just sprouted a taproot(radicle), and no shoot(plumule) then youve got to put it into your medium.
do this carefully as its very delicate.
your cfl should be fine to grow with at the start and you dont really have anything to worry about right now.
just put it into your medium is all

Oh ic. Yes i had them in the collars in net pots, but no medium (only taproots no shoots) , it didnt look like there was any in the aeroponics systems i looked at.. I will try them in some hydroton, after it grows a bunch should i take out the hydroton and put collars on?
