HELP how many cfl's/watts for starting 10 seedlings?

Hey guys,
I am going to grow outdoors this year, but I plan to start indoors. I plan to start the seedlings early inside and then transfer them once the roots are stable. What i need to know is how many cfl's should i buy, and what wattage for about 10 seedlings.

I want to keep it low budget so remember that its only for starting them indoors for 2 or 3 weeks max.
Last question, what should i buy to hold all these cfl's in place? Can I get low wattage since I wont be growing these plants past the 5th or so node? any setup suggestions/ comments?

i had 7 seedlings at four inches that were doing perfectly fine with 2 26watt daylight cfls. I bought them at Walmart for around 6 dollars

I to plan moving my seedlings out in 1-2 months when the times right..I have 50 seedlings under 8 23w cfls. They are doing fine except i need more lights, and i dont know how many either. and transplants :?.. :blsmoke:

cool thanks, im gonna get 2 or 3, 26 watt cfl's
how do i hold the cfls in place? what is the thing they screw into (socket)? i cant find out what its called lol

i want a 3 way holder

If you can't find a 3-headed lamp, 2 socket splitters can be found at hardware stores.

Well-Known Member
walmart usually carries both the splitters and the bulbs. they also sell the reflector lamp with a clip on the side.

Wow i have the same lil set up, 2 26watt Daylight flc's , and 12 seedling growing. Their doin good some have already sprouted n 28 hours, and just like u there not stayin in my house for long. Soo here's my question How far do yall got the lights from the plant's I really need need 2 know it's currently 80' Dgr's and im runnin 24/7 until can be moved out side PLEASE ANWSER SOON!!!! THNX

Because umm maybe the fact Teh got the same setup as me and was just askin how far he had his lights , why make another thread when sum1 right her has my solution. Dude u needa chill out . I mean what kinda person would reply with" why dont u go make ur own thread", instead of just helpin sum1 out and say what u know?? this is a forum for helpin people out is what I thought, If i'v mistaken please let me know.
