It pretty simple, you need a dc adapter, the fan should have 3 wires, connect the black and red wire to adapter, then tape off yellow wire. Here a diy, there a lot out there just search around.

I used a cell phone adapter from an old cell phone I had. Works fine... running 2 PC fans off of it right now.

Cheers

OK, forget that nonesense of using converters.

Radio Shack sells a model of computer fan that uses regular DC current. All you need to do is buy an outlet plug-in. Most of the kids working there don't even know they stock it.

Trust me, they work great! and they move a lot of air. I use one in my clone cabinet...I'll see if I can get a pic uploaded of it.

If you have some old electronics in your house that you plan to throw out, use the power adapter for it.

Look at the back of the adapter for output voltage. It really doesn't matter the output voltage, the higher, the faster your fan will go.

Splice and strip the end of the wire. Depending how you connect your wires determines in what direction your fan spins and how you mounted it will also depend if it is an intake or exhaust.

Don't stress out, it may seem complicated but once you get the hang of it, its pretty simple

Punk is right if you are going to spend money RS does have fans that dont need a converter, they are like $20, but if you have the stuff lying around then just make your own.

If you don't have one lying around then the best bet is eBay. You can get a ac to dc converter for like $3 usd. If not there then there are probably a lot of surplus stores in your area (if you live in or near a city).

Or takeit off some electronics that you don't use.
