ok so the last couple of days my carbon filter hasnt been working rite and all i can smell is my girls flowering. i have checked all connections to see if i have a leak after the carbon filter and everything is still hooked up. plus im pullin enough air thru the filter to suck a flame out from a lighter at about an inch away. i have a 6x12 carbon filter going to my light, up to the fan and out of closet.:confused:i also have a febreeze odor detector in the closet n an febreeze automatic spraying every 9 min rite now

its 2 plants in two 18 gallon storage totes stacked on top of each other so carbon filter is on top of totes filtering the closet air to go out into room

A carbon filter should have slightly larger CFM/m3h rating than the fan. If the fan is rated higher than the filter then the air passes through the filter too quickly to be cleaned and then you get smell leaks.

200CFM FAN -- 220CFM FILTER
400CFM FAN -- 440CFM FILTER

Make sure not to use an ozone generator around your plants! I recently started to fry mine with just a little ozone, although it worked great for the odor :) Others here are right, you need a bigger carbon filter, and maybe a bigger fan. Good luck!

You might need a fan speed controller. I have my speed controller on lowest level and it is only a 165 cfm fan. I use a 7 x 10 inch long filter for a 2x2x5' tent.

What kind of carbon filter is it exactly? I have a 6"x16" Phresh filter and two plants going and it works very well for me. It may just be that you bought a cheap carbon filter and need to upgrade it to a better one.
