Helicopters

some thing caught my attention when i was at work today driving down the street, theres a feild then a forest on the other side of it with a helicopter hovering really low over it, i know it wasnt a landing spot because its someones farm, and then one of my co workers said it might be a grow op, and she told me that the plants give off heat that the helicopters dectect. is this true or bs? i always thought they just saw plants when flying by.

Yea they can detect some weird heat from the plants.I've read about it more than once. They can also see inside gardens with infared or some shit that shows em all the heat generated from grow lights.I grow outdoors and we have helicopters too. They haven't hovered over my crop tho, cops was watchin me the other day but I've sinced moved my crop to a more secure spot in tall grass.Best advice-be careful and keep your eyes open.

No, Canna shows up a distinct color under infrared. Btw helicopters can only see grow op lights at night, and generally they only look after midnight. I have a tin roof so the heat signature of a grow light would be overpowered by the heat from the roof, and is only cool enough to see a light after around midnight.

Best bet would be to run your lights during the day to avoid detection right?I grow outside and have never done inside growing.Just stating what I've heard and read.

I heard of this too but don't know the facts. It would be nice to know if it's really true.

it all depends on where you live and what your city can afford If you live in a big city like oh atlanta, then you can bet your ass they've got infrared cameras and all that other stuff. Where I live they don't have it, the city is too small. But in the end, yes it's true they can find your plants ANYWHERE even inside. So the better safe than sorry approach is always good.

Yea it would be....I've heard too many things all different.Very confusing for a beginner.I'm on my first grow so I'm no stranger to confusion.

they usually get the grower from sales or from stealing hydro services
Yep, I don't wanna make anyone paranoid from what I said:-?. the LEO probably won't come after anyone unless you're selling, stealing utilities or doing a huge ass grow. Abud, I got some info for you too, pm me

I'm always keeping an eye out...had cops driving by real slow the other day when I was by my crop so I moved to into that deep grass. Now u can't even see em 5 feet away let alone 50 or so from the main road.

around where i live a huge grow would be considered 50+ plants, grow season is short, an its not uncommon for people to have out 40 plants....thats enough smoke for the year....gotta think theres gonnabe problems, an youre gonna lose some plants, i usually count on losing half of what i planted to wildlife..i also dont believe in puttin all your eggs in 1 basket, i prefer small 4-10 plant plots, in thick woods.

Well when I first sprouted my seeds I had 56 but lost over half of em.Now that I think about it 23 is about the most I wanna do cuz if I had anymore growing it'd be pretty hard hiding them or if I had to move em it would take too long.Next year I want 25 but that's about it....also depends if I move or not cuz my girl and I wanna head south to Georgia. It's warmer and they have long summers. It's also more urban so I might have to take my growing inside till I learn the landscape and know where it would be safe to plant.

whatever state it is that you live in, find a map with all the county roads. Then just take a 1 day roadtrip, you might be amazed at what youll find in the middle of no where. this year i found many long lost trails that havent been traveled in years alot of these trails didnt produce anything but a dead end, but a few that just went for miles through beautiful woods, swamps. hillsides, ect. 4x4 and a come-along is a must for some of the places i went.
