you could train the branches along the netting, basically growing them horizontally. I am constantly pruning in veg stages as well, so they get to bush out like mad. The best way to control them is just to flower them at the right time. (12-24 inches) I dont really worry about how big the plant is though, its all about how extensive your roots are. Once the roots are huge, i throw it in. One benefit of growing hydro is i can always keep an eye on them and can see problems from a mile away. Ive flowered them as small as 6 inches and yeilded more than 2 oz per plant.
