Heavy/Oversized fan leaves.

Hey all. Quick question. I have a couple plants that have some INSANELY large/heavy fan leaves, biggest fan leaves I ever seen. They seem to be dropping due to weight of the leaf. I think its not a bad droop, it seems due to the size. Is this normal at all? I just hit each of them with a gallon of water.

If it matters any its only the 2 plants with those huge ass leaves thats doing that.

Drooping right after a watering is very normal, especially if your drainage is not the best (maybe clay packed soil around where you put them in?).

No, they were doing this before I watered them which is weird. Does the droop look bad? I know the holes I dug for them were not too wide which could explain the roots hitting the native soil which is pretty damn hard and clay like....hmm!

No, the droop does not look bad.

Whats crazy is the holes I dug wider the plants dont seem to be doing that. I only slacked on width in the 2 holes and it seems those ones are the ones with the fattest fan leaves and doing that silly droop.

Yeah, should be fine, just water those two a little less if the clay soil feels like it has moisture in it.

Right on, will do. Im sure it does bc the ground is insanely hard so im sure it holds the water from previous rains for quite sometime. I been growing back there for YEARS however this year I kinda hurried while digging the holes. Thanks dood!

Thanks brother! I was a bit concerned bc I never had a droop back there. But then again I cant recall having fan leaves that massive, they have some fat boys thats for sure! All the other plants look top notch tho!

Beautiful big sun leaf. The largest I've found in my garden was a Durban Poison 9 fingered wide body whose central blade was 12 3/4 inches long from the 'eye'. Those DPs are huge producers.

in the future dig square holes that way when the roots hit the square they have a much more likely to go out of the hole as oppose to a round hole where the roots will just keep circling around as if they were in a pot.
