Haze and Kush flavor reference strains

Hey guys.

I'm looking to find some strains that best represent the Haze and Kush flavors.

People are always saying they can taste the haze influence, or "I got dat Kush".

Id like to grow them and see what they REALLY taste like. Preferably pure strains, so I don't get mixed results from the second set of genetics.

Thanks alot.

I grew a TNT Kush this season. It's a pure Pakastani Indica, from the "Kush Zone". It has a very strong smell and taste. It's not a skunk smell, more of a "perfumey" smell. Everyone that samples it loves the taste. It's got a good, relaxing high.

Smoking some store-bought Skywalker OG right now, has more of a Kush taste than I get from a dispensary most times. Oddly tho, most of the indica bag seed that I grow has a very strong kush taste (usually doesn't when I'm smoking the same thing from the store). You can tell they're different, leaves are obviously hybrids of varying levels, but they pretty much taste the same to me, like kush. My favorite homegrown and only mom-plant, so far, looks and tastes like Blackberry Kush (Kush with some extra sweetness and berriness to it, very tasty-not pure tho), but there have been others. I think you'll be fine if you pick something with kush in the name, especially if it looks like an indica. If grown/trimmed/cured properly, it should be easy to bring out that kush taste. Can't help you with the haze flavors, I don't grow too many sativas/wouldn't know what I'm talking about.

firstly, kush, and og kush taste completely different imvho.. i'm not much of a fan of a real kush, say, hindu kush as it tastes more earthy to me, and like i said, not really a fan..
og kush on the other hand, is one of the most amazing tasting herbs out there... super hashy, piney, and sometimes even coffee or lemon pledge, depending on the og of course..
haze is more peppery, herbal tasting, but easy to spot a mile away ime..

a good og kush for me was hmm, dr greenthumbs ghost cut of og kush.. holy hell, was that some really good herb.. amazing og taste and smell for days..
blue dream has a nice haze representation to it ime.. blueblerry mixed with that unmistakeble haze.
being that half of blue dream is super sliver haze, super silver haze is also a nice haze plant.

Best representation of Haze is either Nevilles haze, SSH, NL5 x haze, Mango haze. Depending on which strain you grow, they either have the hazeA or hazeC males. Spicy, leathery, frankincense, Catpiss are what I associate with haze. But, most Amsterdam breeders refer to Haze as a strain with an "up" high that May or may not refer specific stock....but that's a can of worms...lol

I've always been interested in the SSH. Is Arjan's Haze #** comparable? I've read alot of good things about his stuff.

I have some Master Kush from clones going right now. Does/can that represent Kush well?

When Neville and Shanti left GHS they also took their breeding stock... no one knows what the true lineage of their (GHS) gear is... So for the most "authentic" haze would be found at Mr. Nice where nevilles original stock still resides.

Seedsman Haze, Ace Old Time Haze and Tom Hill's Haze have all had good reviews and are actually pure Haze. I'd say they're the best representations out there.

Yes, the Master Kush will be very representative of a real Kush, with the earthy smell and flavor like Racerboy said.

Correction: Blue Dream is Santa Cruz Haze x DJ Short Blueberry, if you're talking about real clone only BD

I'm going to have to side with Racer on the OG Kush I don't care how mainstream it is it has a taste and smell that can't be beat. I wish OG Kush was never named so though, outside of the well informed grower most don't even know where hindu kush region is let alone know about the hindu kush strains. SSH can't go wrong with that one!!

ehhh whats up doc!! while what you say is true about Nev and Shanti leaving and yes Shanti retained the SSH and MH and NH ect.. I would argue with you that O Haze from Flying Dutchman would be the most "authentic" if you wish to get technical :)

You guys are totally correct... There are some pure haze lines out there... I would also add that those lines also have a lot of hearsay about what constitutes a haze (except Flying Dutchman). Can any line that is comprised of multiple line equatorial sativas be considered a true haze (old timers and tom hill) or does it have to originate from the Cali haze bros? My thinking is that when people talk about haze taste/flavor/aroma they refer to nevilles work (cause 99% of haze growers have never tried these pure lines, their impression/interpretation of haze was from Neville's stock).

My .02 cents

I've never once in my life heard bkue dream as being Santa Cruz haze..
I'm sorry you didn't know that. I happen to live in Santa Cruz and know the deal.

im sure santa cruz haze is just a phenol of super silver haze or a cross of it
You're sure are you? Sorry, but you're wrong.

I've heard there are two blue dream cuts, one with Santa Cruz haze(?) and one with SSH. Bodhi and Snowhigh both mention to two diffrent cuts as well.
There are lots of cuts now, since many tried to copy the original, but there is only one true cut.

A Santa Cruz grower was working on this local haze for several years when he decided to introduce some DJ Short Blueberry into the mix. A random pheno popped up in a large outdoor crop = Blue Dream.

See, when you know the truth you don't have to guess.
