have u ever heard of pinching off the new stem or leaves right as they start to appear to make them branch into 2 branches?

Sure, its done all the time. Its called "topping," or "pruning." If you use the search engine and search "cloning," "topping," or "pruning," you'll find some good info on the subject.

When you go to take that cutting do it under water. If an air bubble get into the stem it isn't good.

yeah it does, great pics. by topping the plant like the pics showed, will it produce more bud?
Not necessaraly. Topping WILL produce more branches, but may not produce more volume of bud. That's because the new branches of bud will be slimmer than the main cola they replaced. I've tried topping and not topping with same-strain plants taken from exact cuttings. My production has proven larger on non-topped plants. This may not be true of everyone and every strain ... but its been proven on what I grow.

so pretty much topping is to stop upward growth. so if i dont have to top, then it would be better to let the main stem go, to product the bud
