My first tip is avoiud looking like a tourist and treat weed like it is extremely illegal and you might be just fine. Try stricking a friendship with a local to show you places up in the hills. This jamaican singer has a few words of wisdom for you too:

hey midge- we go to the riu negril almost every winter for a week or so. EVERYBODY sells weed. never pay more than 30-35 for a bag. they usually start around 80 or so. some bags look big but have lots of wrapping so beware. on the beaches in negril they're pretty open about it. some even advertise. the quality is hit or miss (i really miss my home grown) . there's not such thing as cure. i usually tape the buds in front of the ac vent to dry out. they harvest on sunday, let sit out in the sun for a week or so, then into a newspaper and it hits the market. enjoy your trip. let me know where your going. we usually do the all inclusives- smoke joints,rink pina coladas and get sunburned.

Thanks Mandy1. We are hoping for an adults only all inclusive. We went to Belize last year for 24 days. Loved it. This year we are going to try a last minute deal...although there are supposed to be some great sales starting tomorrow. ;)

Yeah went there on a cruise had a f-ing blast with on the zillions those guys r crazy n made things even better - didnt have a chance 2 smoke any weed there but got sum n cancun this past may at market 29 it was real real seedy but was there long n couldn't bring it bk anyway

the riu is a spanish resort company. they have 2 resorts in negril, riu negril and riu tropical bay, both are great. the food is superb and thats what keeps us going back plus the don't hassle you about smoking on the beath.

yes, i've been several times.

try to do as much native as you can..last time i was there, we had a house in the mountains in the Boston area.

ice is a rare commodity.."meat" is usually goat so be sure to ask..bring toilet paper in your carry-on..the ride to negril from airport is long and winding..you will need to stop since you've been hammering rum drinks on the flight.

good times hanging at "jerk shack" in Boston (that's the name) ask anyone where it is..can find weed there, just be cool..they will come to YOU..or the bartender will know..make sure you TIP doesn't need to be much $2 for most stuff $5 if it's a powdery white drug..remember, you are paying him so you don't get ripped.

and for god's sakes..DO NOT try to bring any home..THEY already know this.

things good to bring home include: blue mountain coffee $30 bag is $5, any cool carvings..i got a huge hand-carved, painted rooster.

Thank you for the tips Schuylaar. We should know by tonight which resort we have chosen. A friend here is married to a Jamaican and she told me you can get great deals on condos. I am pretty sure Hedonism is not my "cup of tea". But definitely an adults only resort. :)
