Harvesting Help!

I've read that One day before I harvest I'm supposed to make a hole in the main stem of the plant? What will this do?

Also is it alright if I were to hang my buds in a dark cool loft in my garage with a fan circulating air constantly for maybe 8 - 10 days?
Would the buds be smoke-able then?

Yep, don't know about the hole, perhaps use it to thread a line thru to string them up

think the doc said, 40% humidity 75 deg. Hang till outside of buds are dry and crisp. The stems should still bend. Put in "mason jars" with lids put in dark area check every day. the buds will get wet again. If real wet remove from jar and air dry till buds are dry again. repet until the buds are dry. when dry back in the jars seal and let them set for a week or two. you can smoke as soon as its dry from hanging but it will taste like crap. butyou will see the longeryou age it the better it will taste.

lol I started off at over 500 gr's wet and now it's done have under 100. but I did sample daily. so much beter at the end the taste and high.

poking a hole in the stem will send the plant into shock, but shouldn't kill it.

by doing this the plant uses up the rest of its stores (i think) and produces and increased amount of resin.

if you feel comfortable enought to do it, then do it. i was going to, but decided not to in the end. still got gooood stuff!

as for drying, you should be cool. just check 'em for mold etc... feel the dryness. you don't want 'em too dry. then preferably you should cure. buds will still be smokeable after drying. but you're missing out on taste, potency to name just 2 reasons why you should cure.
