Harvest Trichome Dilemma

so i got a couple plants that have been budding for about 10 weeks throughout autumn outdoors. They have the typical signs of plants close to beinr ready to be taken down i.e yellowing and drying of the fan leaves, white hairs turning brown and curling back, but i have been keeping a close inspection of the trichomes which still remain almost completely white, with minimal signs of amber heads. As such i have continued to feed the plants with small amounts of nutrients and have delayed flushing until the trichs do begin to turn amber. Is this the right thing to do? Also what do you make of purpling of the leaves/buds, i have a plant that has discoloured in thgis fashion and this is not the result of the strain design etc. any info cheers?

IMO...(been at this for years and run a LOT of comparison "smokes" with trics at various stages).....amber is a sign of degradation in your bud...you actually are losing the strains actual "nature" when trics turn amber.....I now harvest every plant I grow (4-5 a month) with trics milky or white, few clear adn even fewer amber.....
If it was me, your plant would now be drying in my dry box....I wish you well....but I do believe you've missed it's peak unless you like a blah couchlock.....

thanks for the, info if you are indeed right then i will get to harvesting right away the trichs are still almost completely white so i dont think i should be too concerned at this point about 99%+ white. But why do so many people say to cut according to trichomes then, its literally everywhere

Yes, being at this a long time, I've noticed also how some people are hung up on amber....as I mentioned, after some dismal couchlock harvest, I went through several months of comparison testing with several different strains harvested by tric color only...ended up with what I posted above....has been my rule since....it allows the nature of a specific strain to be what it is without any adjustment that can be made thru allowing tric to turn amber....
Until I retired several years ago, my lifelong vocation was documentation of variances in maufacturing etc.....just came easy to document and make decisions about my favorite hobby now....We have a small collective in my area who grow and all have adopted my patterns of harvest technique....may I add, being a medical MJ user, I do prefer cerebral sativa kicks first and a body buzz second.....a hybrid will give ya both if harvested according to my techniques....
