Harvest QnA

Hey rollitupers,
I'm entering week 8 with my tahoe strain, and I'm noticing that the trichomes are starting to be matured even though ALL of the hairs are still white. Should I chop when I have a good array of ambers, or should I just let it go till the pistils brownout and recede back into the calyx? Any and all information is appreciated. BTW, they are HUGE beautiful buds and aren't stressed or anything. Dwc environment dialed in.

Trichomes can mature early for many reasons. @RM3 has figured out how to do it and he knows his shit. I'm sure nothing is wrong with them, maybe just the strain or something your doing. Throw up a close up picture of the trichs and then a picture of the plant if you would and we could help you out a little more.

In my opinion if the pistils haven't changed color and started to recede the plant is nowhere near done. When they do, the resin will be at the proper ripeness. Again this is my opinion.

leave the bitch alone dude! You are nowhere near finish, I promise, and I haven't even seen your girl(s). Hopefully, you have a microscope when you really get close. A usable 30x microscope is under $60 on ebay and Amazon. If you are using a nute feed, I would change it to ph'd water now. Pictures would be nice though. Here are a couple examples. Peace

Btw, I'm using house and garden aqua flakes and my chart says to keep feeding through week 8?
Feeding till harvest is up to you. I would come to a slowdown (half feed) if my leaves are still healthy at the beginning of swelling. But its just a myth. Helps me sleep better lol. As far as trichomes go you gotta wait for the swelling of calyx's and ripe (bright hue not so shiny) before checking trichomes.

*edit, i have had some indica's that never ambered. It went pretty much all cloudy and started to turn red instead of yellow.

Bird dog, I'm just entering week 8 with this strain. It's a 8-10 week strain. Is phed water for 2 weeks bad?
2 weeks is about right...good call! the real reason for water only is to get the bad taste out. Its your call. I have never seen an auto actually finish in 8 weeks...perhaps others have. I've only been doing auto's for 3 years, so I'm not going there. Also, your leaves will start curling and turning colors at the end, which is also a good indicator. This may help a bit. Peace

I meant an 8-10 wk flower
Now it makes sense. Those timeframes are very generalized and should only be used as a guide. So many factors are involved in flower time, we could talk for days. Tent?, light size, etc. I usually pull a small bud every 3-4 days when I'm close. I then dry those buds rapidly and try the smoke. The fact that you are asking questions tells me you are a responsible grower. Keep us posted! Peace
