I have extremely hardwater. High in iron and calcium. It runs bout 350-400ppm out of tap. I run about a 60%ro to 40%ww ratio and it works great.

Ive got aprox. 400 ppm also.. Leaves white salt looking residue in my rez.. On all pipes and so on.. and makes my PH act like a pre menstrual woman.. :( Oh yea forgot to mention.. Im growing in hydro :) And the residue in my buckets comes even without the nutes.

yup sounds like calcium to me. I suggest pre mixing your water 1-3 days prior to adding nutes in a different rez. Drop a bubbler in it. This will cause a lot of the dissolved solids to oxidize and clump together dropping them out of suspension. Doing this drops my ppm 50-75 pts right off the rip.

Your newly bought nutes should be fine, Just get an EC\ppm meter, and tune your nutes for total ppms so you know what your feeding to them

Thats why you mix some straight w/w in with it. Or you can go buy calmag and replace what you just took out.

Then When I need to top off my rez. If my ph is a little low I use ww if my ph is running a little high I use ro. My tapwater runs about 7.2-7.4 My ro water runs about 5.6. This allows me to use much less ph buffer.

Heres a pic of a rez and this is without nutes and plants.. Just water and airstones for 1 week.. I was testing the system..
