Hanging plants in the basement. Darkness question.....

Thanks for taking the time to respond. It's appreciated. Please feel free to comment good/bad/indifferent. Justing looking for the best solutuon.

About two weeks from harvest and will be hanging plants in my basement, which stays at 75% and about 45-55% humitidy. Will I need total darkness for a while in the drying process before curing? Have everything else pretty much covered fans, lines etc. There are periods of time when no one is downthere but I have heard that light is not good. My tent has more flowering in it so I can't use it. Any suggestions??

...can you hang some panda film or something down from the ceiling of the basement, to block the light from your hanging plants?

Dark is best. Light degrades THC somewhat. With a lot of experience over time with the same strain, you can tell the difference.

I was in your same situation. Get a cardboard box and cut the top off and string the branches up from one end of box to other. Worked very well for me.

You should be fine in the basement as long as you keep the air circulating around your buds. At your humidity levels you should be fine with air flow, it takes a little longer the higher the humidity but IMHO that is what you are looking for. The slower the drying the smoother the smoke in the end. You have to think of your bud as a fine wine it might be good a month after bottling but a year afterwards its even better. I have found over the years trying all sorts of methods, many which are listed in the forums here in RIU, that taking the extra time to let them dryout ever so slowly and having the plant as whole as possible while it dries delivers a superior end product. Remember you just spent months getting it to harvest what is a little extra time in drying and curing? I also find that the slower drying time really helps the finish the curing with a smoother smoke on the throat and preserves all the wonderful tastes and aromas of my babies. Good Luck
