Hanging large carbon filters

i am in the process of reconstructing my grown room. i have a big ass carbon filter that weights around 100 lbs and is around 5 feet tall. i would like to hang this horizontally in the top corner or my grow. the garden is in the basement and there are rafters running along the ceiling every foot. the rafters look like 2x6's.

could i just get some gigantic hooks and chain and hang it like that or am i risking it ripping a hole in my floor?

I would say just make sure you are in the middle of the joists... try and span the weight across different joists instead of running in line with two or so if you are worried about the weight. Your floor should be fine. Strapping will work with a few lag bolts or even wood screws should work. Make more straps if two aren't enough.

Ya that is fine, only suggestion I have is hanging it all from bungie cords if the fan is going to be attached at the same location. If not then just chain that bitch up.

100 pounds shouldn't make floor joist come apart. You should be fine with Eye hooks and a strap of some sort.
