Hanging heavy lights and what do u use?

I made sure that where my light was going to be fixed were extra joists in the ceiling.

Luckily my ceiling of my grow room is upstairs with attic space above.

So I was able to pre-drill my hook eye holes and find them in the attic. Once I located them I added more 2x4 cross members to make sure that my hooks were going to be bedded into wood and not dry wall.

I screwed the extra 2x4's into place in the attic to the existing joists.

Then I could safely mount my light hooks and then my light.

If you don't have the benefit of an attic area above then you will need to locate the joists using a wood finder.

Mark all the joists inside your room and attach with screws a wooden frame to the ceiling of your room that screws into the found joists.

This way you are hanging your lighting into a frame that is attached to joists.

If its a bedroom or any fully framed room, the ceiling joists will be at 2ft centers. May very a tad depending on how well the house was built. ANY ceiling joist with a 1/2" hangers or hangers of your choice will hold far more weight then any amount of grow lights you could hang. But what I would do is do the stud work and locate each studs then mount a 2x4 running the lengt or Width of room depending on your setup, that way your joists don't dictate we're the lights can/can't hang.
