:wall: I am building a grow room 12'x5' and it is in a two story shed behind a friends house in the woods. I need to know how I will cool my room during the summer when it is hot outside. If I put a intake fan in wont it just bring hot air in my room, and if I put a exaust fan wont that just be pulling hot air out and bringing more in from outside. Or if I completely air seal the room and add a high velocity fan will that keep the room cool.

In the summer you are going to need an a/c
I attach my intake duct to the vent on a window a/c, works great for keeping the temps in check
Can you put an a/c in the shed?

How do you expect to put it in a grow room without it leaking all over the place and spewing hot air to the rest of the shed? That will cause some major condensation in there
Why can't you put it in a window?

first off how hott does it get where the shed is during the summer???

if co2 supplementing your plants are alloted a higher heat temp, not to say that high 90s is safe even with co2, but my uncle has grown in 88-95f degree temps for years and has never had a prob....the biggest deal is ventilation co2 and nice humidity conditions.....

now, if your gettin higher than 90 or 95 f in the summer you definitely need a small ac unit....cost depends on how many sq. ft you need to cool. bottom line is, if you have the space and the money for a small ac unit GET ONE......if not get lots of fans and stick with the coolest lights u can get your hands on!!

GOOD LUCK!

I guess I could put a window a/c unit but will it cool a 300sqf shed, I would run a duct from the window to my grow room but this is a somewhat stealth grow.

It is in a shed, how often are people in there?
Lol I would think that it being in a shed is stealth enough, its a shed not a living room

No there is windows in the shed, but nobody ever goes in, I have a pad lock on the only door. I just searched for a cheap a/c unit and the cheapest I could find was like $200.00 and if I cant find something before summer I dont know what to do. I live in SC and summertime here can have a heat index of over 100 degrees.

I had the same problem. Went on Craigslist and got a small A/C unit for $30. Drops the temp about 15 degrees....Problem is you have to keep filling it with water every 7-8 hours. I had no other choice so I bought another one for $35 in case the other one craps out and I need a back up. It's a temporary fix till I find a better option but it works great if you don't mind filling it with water every 8 hours. The humidity is at 50%. An added benefit is it takes care of your fan needs too and provides good air circulation. Btw, it runs on 1 amp
