Grow Shops In Los Angeles?

I'm taking a 3-week vacation out in the LA area starting this week, and was wondering if anyone in Southern California could suggest a good grow shop or two. I'm also wondering if grow shops in areas where medical marijuana is legal are more free to openly discuss what we're really growing than owners of shops in areas where it's not legal at all. I'm an experienced outdoor gardener who just started growing indoors as well, and I'd really enjoy a chance to stop in at a shop and have a frank, open discussion about a few the tricks of the trade. Any help on either of these two questions will, of course, be greatly appreciated. Thanks, everyone!

there are a few in this area. My favorite is BetterGrow Hydro and the other that I've been to is Atwater Hydroponics. They both are small shops but have large selections of everything you possibly need for hydroponics. (BGH has a great online store as well which you can check what they have in stock at their different locations)

For both those stores, they have a sign that says they cannot sell their merchandise for any illegal purposes or something along the lines of that. I'm sure if you have a government issued-license to grow medical marijuana, they may be able to suggest some products. Just because its legal for some people doesn't make the store OK to openly sell their products to illegal growers. So you most likely (99%) won't be able to "stop in at a shop and have a frank, open discussion about a few of the tricks of the trade." Hope this helps.

There are many places to find hydroponics in the LA area. There are so many more choices than Atwater and BetterGrow hydro. GreenBookPages.com will show you all the hydroponic grow shops in LA and give you discounts at the coupons section.
