the setup it self is not bad. but i would put some more afford in building it, those shelves as the are right now won't make it. also all those tin foil, hot-spots, i would replace it with mylar flat to the wall and crinkle-free...

1st: Is that aluminum foil I see for reflection? If it is I would get rid of it immediately and get some mylar or even white paper. Aluminum foil can create hot spots and isn't as reflective as say mylar or plain white. It is also a fire hazard as electricity can run through the foil.

2nd: Do not go "digging" to check on your seed. You must be patient!!! It will come up, even if it takes over a week. Germinating is probably the easiest part for growers.

3rd: The light set up for now is okay, but make sure you are giving each plant even light. Not more for some and less for others. If you are going to use CFLs, make sure you use cool white with at least a 1500 lumen output. You can find these at any local hardware store.

4th: Get a fan in there to circulate the room. Once the plants are bigger, the fan will put a strain on them just like the outdoors causing the plant to become stronger and in the end yield more.

Good luck!!

since you gone have to rebuild/beef up that shelve in there, why not dedicating the full lower room there too vegging? lock the light in there with panda foil, put up some height adjustable cfls and maybe even a additional small floro fixture for even more light.

basically, take to old shelve board, fix a few 2X1 pieces under it so it gets more stable. also put columns down to the floor so it weight won't rip it off the wall. to that re-enforcement attach the panda foil. the white side of it is more reflective as tin foil, so you won't that shit any more too;)

that would made your current set up perfect:)

Dude, you got some excellent advice, also one of those cfl's looks awfully close to me, I'd push it back a little. Even cfl's produce heat, and those are delicate babies. I think it's 2nd from the right, in the 3rd pic. Like Paulio said, get a fan right away.

ya, ive got a fan inside that enclosure. and the one you think is to close shouldnt even be in there... its not a cfl i dont think ... atleast its not nearly as white as the others. so tonight at 6 when i put them in complete darkness ... im gonna re do the room for thr 3rd and FINAL time ... i havent decided the design but im not gonna use cardboard anymore .. its too flimsy ... and as far as mylar goes... i read in an older post that you can use xmas wrap ... true ?? im gonna take all my nutrients and whatnot from off of that board and use that to hang an adjustable lighting system from ... as i always say ... any input or advice on what you ppl think i should create would be greatly appeciated as it will most likely save me the time im wasting re creating this over n over
