Grow Room Setup

Hello again, fellow stoners!!

This time I'm posting for some advice on my grow room setup. Please refer to the picture below.



Ok ... here's how it's gonna be. The coloured area (grey, i think, 'cos i'm colour blind, sorry) is my window which is going to be covered with mylar. Due to my poor photography, I didn't capture that area above my window which is where the exhaust fan is going to be housed (exactly above wiring #2 & #3).
The hole for the exhaust fan hasn't been made yet. And where I'm standing, there's gonna be a fan to keep the air in the room circulated.

The problem with my grow room is that I haven't got enough power points. I'm gonna get an electrician to help me with that. I was also thinking of placing some CFLs on the left side of the planter. I can't place any CFLs on the right as there's nothing I can mount the bulbs onto. I've seen a couple of grow room pictures in here and noticed that the bulbs has got a shade on top of the bulb. What if I just hang the bulbs without the lamp shade? Would it make a difference? I'm also having a hard time figuring out how to tell the electrician that I'd want a timer to go with the lights.

the so called shades you see in the pics of my gallery arent shades. they are reflective, to reflect the light back to the plant and focus the light more in one direction. you should use these IMO. very cheap at home depot, they are in the electrical section (duh)

also try to get higher wattage cfl's, they have them there, i the highest i seen on the shelf was 2600 lumens, and it wasnt there the first time i went so they may have stronger.

OH and i will try to stop you from making my mistake.. put your plants in seperate containers!!! trust me. i am using the same exact thing you are(as you can see in my gallery), and i dont know who is going to win between 3 of my plants, they are looking crowded right now. too late to fix it now.

Unfortunately, there's no home depot at where I live (asia). But I'll definitely try to find some. I think the highest wattage CFLs I've seen around here is at 26W. Not too sure how much lumen does 26W of CFL produces but I'm hoping 4 to 6 is enough

As for the planter, I was thinking of using that to germinate. And when that's done, I'll transfer it to a larger pot.

i would imagine that if you had multiple plants in there and went to transplant them you would shock them enough to die. unless you have xray vision and know exactly where each plants roots are to get them out safely. people usually transplant 1 plant from a pot, they make a hole the side of the put and then take the pot off and slide it in the new hole.

Okay ... how about i only put 4 seeds in that planter? Or maybe I seperate planters with something so that roots won't overlap?
