Grow Room Design

I'm new to these forums but, when I searched for good growing forums I found this one lol. I need a little advice on a grow room me and a few of my buddies are about to build this weekend.

I will be making it out of 2x4's and plywood. It will be 5ft. tall, 4ft wide, and 3.5ft deep. There will be two flouro bulbs. (4ft each) One vent 6" vent fan that will bring air in, as well as another 8" fan that will take air out of the other side through a dryer vent and out my basement window. I know I have to monitor the PH and humidity levels, I've learned most of the basics.

But does this sound reasonable for a decent grow room? I would really appreciate any feedback you guys can give me. THANKS!!!

5ft tall is minimum, if you can build it higher that would be best.

You gotta think of the height of the raised floor+height of plants+height of lights = ~3ft of grow height for your plants. Higher would be better (aka more yield)

Thanks for the advice. Another question I have is if the the vent pulling air out of the box through the basement window will be adequate. I don't want my neighbors to be on to me. There is a patch of weeds and a line of trees that separates me from my neighbors so I figured that would be cool.

Another question.....

Ive been doing LOT AND LOTS of research on this the last couple of weeks so I can get this thing going. When the plants are small or "veg" you keep them under flouro's right? And then when they get bigger you want to move to a more powerful light? Like a HPS or something? I don't want to raise my power bill too much.

Yea thats true. The structure will be flat on the ground and the lights will never move, they will always be on top. The plants will be lowered and raised using 1x2's cut into lots of little shelves on the sides of the structure. That way you can just slide them out and move them to a different level.

sounds like you need to do a ton of more research, might i suggest using the search feature of this website for detailed questions and also purchasing this book at your local barnes & nobles, hastings, or borders. You should find it in the gardening section. It will teach you everything and more you need to know for growing . Marijuana Horticulture by Jorge Cervantez

Thanks for the help. I think I know the basics I need to know. The only worries I have is my air intake being to cold, due to it being in the basment. And the second worry is the lighting. Ive done my reading on the rest already.

BTW I'm reading your grow journal. Pretty bad ass.
