I've always been a K.I.S.S. kind of guy and often, when I read this forum I worry that a lot of people get confused and discouraged by the amount of information thrown at them. Much of the info is unnecessary, and some of it is incorrect so thought I'd report on my simple method to let the new growers know that this really doesn't have to be difficult. I am not a new grower myself, but over the years I've been entirely happy with both the quantity and quality of my harvests and have never felt the need to start experimenting and creating more work for myself. I think this method is easy, and I hope it helps those that are a little anxious when they read some of the posts we see here.
Plant - Jack Herer from seed
Soil - 50/50 mix FF Happy Frog & Roots Organics
Container - 15 gallon HydroFarm Dirt Pot
Nutes - MaxSea All Purpose & MaxSea Bloom
Supplement - CalMag Plus
Preventatives - Neem Oil & BT
Water - Straight from the hose at PH of 8.5
Germinated seed in moist paper towel and moved to Whitney Farms seed starting soil in a one quart container on April 16th, as soon as it showed a tail. Moved it two weeks later into a two gallon dirt pot, then into the fifteen gallon bag after three weeks. I'm not fussy about the soil and have used most of the quality commercial types available for us. Just don't go cheap here as it does matter. After it developed 3-4 nodes I topped, then did so two more times when ready, for eight tops. Fed every two weeks until first sign of flower with MaxSea AP at 1/2 strength. Once a month through veg and flower I add CalMag Plus while feeding. I check for mites meticulously throughout the grow and spray neem when necessary. During flower I continue the two week, 1/2 strength feed schedule with Bloom but once a month, I do a 50/50 mix of AP and Bloom in order to keep the nitrogen up. As soon as buds start to fatten I treat with BT to try and stave off the caterpillars. I have not seen any indication that they've arrived at this point, but even with treatment I do usually find one or two before or during harvest. Happy to answer any questions you may have.
