grow box setup

ok so im thinking for a personal plants grow to fit my closet im going to build a 28in (length) x 21in (width) x 55in (height) growbox out of wood.

for lights im going to use 2 22in t5 fluorescent light tubes

for air circulation im going to put 2 computer fans, one blowing in at the bottem, one blowing out at the top (hopefully ill build a filter or something to cover up the smell cuz its a stealth box), hooked up to a 12v power supply

im still waiting on some money before i start building this, so if anyone has ideas on what i could use for a cheap filter for the smell (i cant use all my money), what i should use for light reflection inside my box, or anything else i missed, please post it, thanks

Sounds like you got a good plan. you can build a home made carbon filter for cheap there is a good post here on RUI, i just don't know where off hand. and i found some reflective mylar gift wrap at the 99cent store that might be good for reflection.

would aluminum foil make a decent reflector also? and i had an idea for a filter.. ive seen people using toilet paper tubes with dryer sheets in them to blow hits through and mask the smell for smoking inside stealthy, could i replicate that with a tube connecting to my exhaust fan? or like those hanging car air freshners that are pretty strong also.. a couple of those with the exhaust fan, in theory i think would mask the smell

I';m also going to be using your idea, How many plants do you plan on growing in your box? I was planning a similar build of box, 2x2x4 (appx), building a frame with wood and lining the walls with mylar insulation boards. I was originally going to use a 400watt HPS for 4 plants but heat in a 2x2x4 is gonna be an issue, even with 2 computer fans... how effective are t5 lights?

well i kinda changed up my plan since this thread, the lighting is going to be different and thats only going to be a flowering box for me i made my veg box already in a rubbermaid bin.

As for lights go to http://littlegreenhouse.com/guide3.shtml to show a light comparison and order lights online.. they have t5 fluoros you can order from there, but there availibility in my price range and the time i wanted to wait to get it wasnt good enough so i just picked up some CFLs, there cheap, easy to get and install, and better then the t5 fluoros

i plan to be able to keep about 4-6 flowering plants in 3 gal pots in my box, basically as many pots as i can hold really but thats my guess

im not too sure if your box will get too hot, u can always run your box for a few hours after building with a thermometer to see the temp, i have never used a 400w hps light, i know there alot hotter then CFLs tho and im gunna have 2 fans just incase (but im probably gunna put 6-10 CFLs in), you can always find a more powerful fan then a PC fan at walmart or something with a regular wall plug so you dont have to cut apart an old 120ac to 12 dc converter (aka old cellphone charger) and rewire it like i had to. Also ive never worked with mylar so idk how this would effect the temp
