Grow #1: Golden Teachers.

Hey guys, just made an account today and want to make some use of it... I have 6 jars that were getting colonized with golden teachers and had green mold (trich) on a few of them. After a few days, I had a rainbow of molds as well as the mycelium. I was a little put out but I knew what I did wrong... : I did not cover the holes in the top of the jar and the air contiminants got in and started all of the molds in the jars. (Official stupid mistake). But to my amazingly huge surprise, I looked at them about a week later and found that in 2 of the jars (which apparently were not infected) had small mushrooms growing in them. I counted 7 in one jar and 3 in the other... The jars are still being kept warm and the mushrooms are still under the vermiculite/rice flour mixture and I am going to be putting them in the fruiting chamber on wednesday afternoon. The largest mushroom that I can see is about 1 inch long and maybe 1/2 inch wide on the stem. I will get pictures up as soon as I can so keep an eye out for them guys . Wednesday I will have pictures up for you to see If you have ever tried Golden teachers or have cultivated before, let me know how it was! I am very excited to finally have mushrooms! Thanks guys

Good stuff. As long as you can salvage at least one jar. It's all good.

i started about a month ago with 12 4 oz jars the super super small ones. since i couldnt find half pint. and i have 11 fruiting. i spawned one to coco/verm. i have gotten about 8 grams dry off of 5 cakes first flush. and there in there second right now. the bulk tray will be put into fruiting on sunday.

What tek did you use for the those small ass jars? It must have been a pretty speedy colonize.

pf tek but make alot less sub for it. it took a while because i think the spores i got were old. it till about 1-2 weeks to see any signs of colonization. so it took about a month total for them to colonize.

Yeah. I'm really starting to hate pf tek. I'm going to be going with popcorn. Spawn that to the mixed manure, and case. Google search popcorn tek. It's one of the easier teks. And it has great results. Less contam than wild bird seed. Easier to prepare and procure than the rye. The poo is optional. I just want to give them a well rounded diet.

yeah poo seems to produce nice fruits. mine vary alot i get one two or three big guys and then small to medium aborts. ill check that out. idk when the next time i am going to inoculate is going to be. its all just a pain. time taking process. i also want to take a spore print and then try those out. maybe they will colonize quicker

Its the cleaning thing. If I could smoke again. I wouldn't have any problems with it. I would just have to write out my list of instructions first.

haha yeah i hate cleaning. and i seem to get to stoned to want to do anything but surf the web or watch tv most of the time haha. but some how i got a 100% contam free. i used the steam method which is not recommended and i thought i could of done better sterilizing

Killer... I got some Golden Teachers colonizing in a bag, which will be cased. Probably with coir... Just haven't got there yet. Sounds like you're gonna have some fungus fueled fun around the corner.

I always learn something from them! Every experience is better it seems.. I just do pf tek cakes, four at a time and it keeps me with a nice personal amount! Also allows me to share with my buddies because I get more than enough.

I can imagine. Let's face it. One good cake should produce you with more that enough for atleast a month or so.

They do! I like the simplicity of cakes and the shotgun chamber. Works great for me as it requires little effort and only misting/fanning twice a day. I have some decent harvests with the golden teachers this way. Plus the cakes are ready so dang fast that I can do a full run rather quick! I should post pics from this next run as I have only ever posted about my mmj garden..
