Gorilla glue experiment

So I just got some new lights in not to long ago and wanted to test them out. They are the viparspectra p2500 lights. Old lights I'm using are viparspectra 600w blurples. I have two tents set up both with 4 gorilla glue autoflowers from ilgm. In the new tent with p2500s I have 2 pots with miracle grow potting soil and 2 pots with happy frog soil. The old tent with the blurples is all miracle grow soil with the exception of 1 that has a 50/50 mix of the miracle grow and happy frog. Plants in the new tent are 5 days older. Let's see what happens!

The plants with the new lights are extremely bushy and short. Nodes are very close together and stems thicker. The old lights are usually what it looks like.

Is it possible to cut the big fan leaves off to make room for light. I'm worried if I do it will stunt the plants growth. They are all still in veg. I've been tucking them about 2 times every day. The difference between the two is huge. Are the plants in the new tent this short and bushy because they are getting better light?

i wouldn't, some training methods will have you remove lower ones getting blocked by the light from what i understand

4 weeks later and they started flowering. Plants in blurples tent were adjusted today with a little more tieing down.

Viparspectra has come along way with it's P Series lights and even more so with their XS series. I would have never thought I would say anything positive about VS, but there it is... It's hard to say the words but I think the P and XS are currently the best budget light out there.....

Week 5. Plants under the new lights have a insane amount of leaves on them. Should I trim some off?

Trimming is largely a matter of preference. There are some reasons to trim, like if you have high humidity and/or low airflow. Since you are open to experimenting, maybe trim some and not others, and then you can see which results you like better. What you'll actually learn is how GG responds to trimming, it may or may not apply to other strains.

I never did a side-by-side with the same strains, but my first LED grows were under burples and then I switched to cobs, and across the board all of my final weights went up. It'll be interesting to see how your final weights compare between the tents.

Good work, good luck with the grow -

I've found through several grows that plants under blurples seem to have more foliage than plants under white lights such as cobs and qb. For several runs, I've had 2 flowering areas...one with a mix of cobs/qb, the other with blurples/ hps combo. The foliage to bud ratio is so different, it's very noticeable as well as firmness of finished product.

Good idea. I'll pick one plant in the new tent and trim some off. Not worried about old tent because they stretched more and there is plenty space for light to get through.

So I defoliated the front two plants. Lots more light in there now. We will see how it goes.

Week 6. Even more stretch in old tent. Plant in the back left isn't flowering yet. Thinking it might be a photo. New tent doing well.

Week 8. Plants are doing well. One of them didn't flower so I had to pull it out the tent and relocate. Got it on 12/12 hoping to have it bloom soon. Going to be a big ass plant.
