Goodeye2113's virginity buster! cfl (first grow)

Well after almost a year of creeping the forums as an avid smoker i decided it would be nice to be able to grow and smoke my own bud. It is my first grow and i am using what i am using, the only thing changing will likely be lighting.


i have 5 Afwreck (Afghani Kush x Trainwreck) seeds i found in my bag, , and am blessed with already having 2 seeds from a bag of nuggets i had at 9 days old, and 5 days old from sprouting .


my setup is a mini fridge. 23" tall x 16" deep x 18" wide

i have a single decent sized computer fan wired up to a 12v charger as an exhaust, with passive intakes allowing for temps in the 68-76F range (30-40% humidity).


i have the two plants in party cups (temorary) with miracle grow (oh noes!) moisture release. i just found a store that sells foxfarm so dont get on my ass for it, the Afwreck will go in FFOC no doubt.

For lighting i have
2x 42 2700k cfls
2x 26w "soft whites" cfls
2x26w "6500k" daylight cfls(look like the 42w 2700ks though)

i have 2 surge protectors one plugged into the other, with one having lights and the other one having a fan and lamp plugged in. The surge protector and 12v charger are plugged into a digital timer i bought from walmart (20$) easy to use, 6 programs possible, and 2 plug ins. i have them on 18/6 right now, and will take things as they go.


I never thought i would make one of these so lets make it a memorable experience.

that's just some slight fail, less lights for now, do you leave the door open? if you don't then you dont want to grow in there one fan inside isnt doing anything. you need and intake and an outtake.

ok I see the ventilation, but your lights are still too close to those younguns, and is there holes in the bottom of those cups? nice condom box plant holder though! may want to get rid of the cardboard after a while though

How about instead of being a dick you tell me why it is bad to have my plants that close to the bulbs, i do not NEED and "outtake" its called passive intakes.

why are the lights too close? temps arent an issue, yes there are drainage holes in the bottom of the party cups. thanks i like to get the most condoms per $. and i know ill get rip of it when the plants get too close.


i dont mean to come off as an ass but you arent very helpful.

because theyre small, and you have like four lights sitting an inch away, and if you want to go on thinking you dont need an outtake go ahead, I wasn't being a dick, people fail. you said you've been creeping the forums for a year why do I have to explain why having four lights inches to a seedling with nothing but a passive intake an a cpu fan is a bad thing? sorry if I offended you.

I don't see why it's a problem with the lights though? It isn't burning the plants, and the temp by the plant is 68-71deg F consistently. I guess I read wrong that you want them 2-4 inches off the plant, the 120mm fan displaces the air in the room constantly,

you should definitely have an exhaust fan at the very least. passive intakes are great but exhaust is 100 percent necessary

I do have the 120mm as the exhaust, I'm not trying to argue I'm honestly trying to understand what you mean

LOL i thought you were growing in a minifridge with only passive intakes and outtakes, and one fan. as long as your temps are good and you have fresh air moving over the plants your fine

The first two are the 12 day old and the last is the 7 day old one. How do they look?

Good eye! i watered them shortly after this pic was posted before i went to bed no worries mate!

A quick update!
Day21: started lst yesterday and they are liking it. I'm getting 5 finger leafs, and the smell of mj.

I will post pics up tonight or tommorrow, but I changed up the lights to allow max height once the plants get taller.


Will a plant show sex in 18/6 ? For the first week they were on 12/12 before I got a timer. If that makes a difference.

I love the use of the mini fridge, and will follow this grow as I will soon be doing my first real grow and ill be using cfl's once I find the right lights...

one thing I notice, shouldn't you use something else besides that tin foil or foil tape or w/e type of foil that is in the back near the fan?

the first one is of the 2 plants, and the second is of the bigger, younger plant.

they are doing good since the replant. going to start adding some nutes next watering. and thinking maybe another week or so of veg and then put them into 12/12.

there are packs of 2 white hairs coming off the older plant....thinking maybe its starting to show sex? under 18/6 currently.

I think that you are using to much lights on the younges, that is a good lighting sistem if you get them "babys" bigger you know?
