The best machine is the one where you put your thumb and fingers on different sides with your right hand squeeze them together over and over manipulating the sharp edges around the buds taking only the leaf. It trims them up great. Best machine around. What are some good trimming machines that you guys would recommend, and how long does it take? I've just spend 20 hours doing maybe 1 - 1.5 lb which is ridiculous I'm so sore now lol.
Still a lot of prep time before you can toss buds in a trimmer. I got one of those TrimPro Unplugged units and it sits in it's box. I like trimming fresh off the plant and it doesn't like that. I don't think any of the salad bowl type trimmers work well with wet bud so now I just chop off anything that doesn't have sugar on it and make it all into oil. Speeds things up really good. When wet the sugar leaves just get pressed up against the buds and it's like they weren't trimmed at all. What are some good trimming machines that you guys would recommend, and how long does it take? I'm thinking it took me so long because nothing formed much of a cola it was lots if single buds staggered down the stem that never joined togeather. I'll check that out tho.I tried a few machines and they all sucked.
Unless you don’t care about destroying the products thc and terpenes then i guess you can go with a trim pro. It’s the cheapest one and You can easily do a 2-3 pounds an hour.
Trimming by hand (Decent size conpact buds) takes me 20 minutes for an oz and im slow.
I do agree with you there no trimmer will do as good a job but man I don't have the time to sit there all weekend trimming lol and I think I'm too fussy trying to cut every little bit of leaf off.The best machine is the one where you put your thumb and fingers on different sides with your right hand squeeze them together over and over manipulating the sharp edges around the buds taking only the leaf. I'm guessing the prep is removing all fan leaves and maybe some of the bigger leaves too then cutting the colas into smaller buds.Still a lot of prep time before you can toss buds in a trimmer. I just do a good hand trim on some of the best colas and then slo-dry and cure over a couple of months for some tasty, smooth smoke but eat the majority of the pot I produce.

You and me both man! I used to pick out every little bit of leaf from each bud and it took me a week to do a plant. I got 6 waiting in line right now too.I think I'm too fussy trying to cut every little bit of leaf off.
I'm a lot quicker now. I just pull off all the big fans and snip off anything that doesn't have sugar on it then bust up the buds while not ever thinking about bag appeal. I soak the fresh buds in naphtha or freeze them to do that later. Drying loses terpenes and as it's all going for meds I want to keep those. The aerator for my dugout can double as a vac unit so I'm planning to vac distill to preserve even more terps. Just waiting for the vac attachment to show up so I can do a test run. Got my 2L, 3-neck boiling ball a while back and can do regular runs with it but haven't used it yet.I'm guessing the prep is removing all fan leaves and maybe some of the bigger leaves too then cutting the colas into smaller buds.
Hmm u thourght these worked best with wet buds nut I see your point y and can see that happening too
