Good led for grow tent ?

I have a small grow tent 31x31x80 ( inches ) just for a couple of plants at a time , what would be the led light size to go for that would be at the point of almost overkill for the space? 200w led?

40 Watts per square foot.
2.6ft x 2.6ft = 6.76ft^2
6.67ft^2 x (40W/ft^2) = 270W

270W is a good goal, imo.

for a tent that big you're going to need more than 1 and powerful ones. personally i wouldnt do it any other way. if you're trying to save money hps is going to be way cheaper to start out with. LEDs only save in the long run. the cheap ones aint worth a shit except for supplemental lighting.

you really need to get a powerful one like this http://htgsupply.com/Product-7-Band-864w-LED-Grow-Light.asp or this http://htgsupply.com/Product-Agromax-Pro-Series-370-LED-Grow-Light.asp they are very expensive and actually only sufficiently cover a 4x4 space.

personally with a tent that size i would be running like 8-10 of those expensive fuckers and have a couple rows. 1 light per big plant. keep temps and humidity in check. add co2. problem is that is a lot of money. imo hps is so much more worth it. the only way to go with LEDs is for the big ones. they are fucking amazing though if you can dish out the cash. i was actually considering them for a 3rd flower room im building but i changed my mind when i heard about the new plasma lights. eventually i want to do a hps vs plasma vs LED. all top notch no cheap shit. right now i just use hps and for side/under lighting blue spectrum t5s and CFLs. i grow massive plants though because i make a lot of edibles for people who cant smoke or even vape hardly due to lung problems.

No prob. Make sure it's 300W at the plug. Many of these companies multiply the number of LED's that they use by the maximum wattage of those LED's and say that their panel is that many Watts. That almost always isn't the case and if it is the lifetimes of the diodes are being compromised.

Hmmmm , think i'll just sit back and wait a while now and for the time being continue grow outside. Was going to get a 500w Blackstar but won't anymore. Light technology is changing too much and doing my head in

In December, I completed a journal over on IC growing and finishing one plant in a 2 X 4 tent using ~ 90 total watts

Not sure I have any pics left to post here, but you don't need 200w+ to grow good weed, AND, big panels are a big pain. Buy multiple small panels, or, make your own using off the shelf screw bulbs from Lowes/HD...

Get a TI smartlamp 600 with the TI Probloom add on. It is a 330w led that has 5w diodes and has a very good flowering spectrum in it also. Good for veg-flower. I think the website is http://www.ledinnovationdesign.com/sl-presentation-en.html .

Also, i use this is a 3x3 tent. Works good. Little to no heat.

Watts are not all created equal.

100w @ 80 lumens per watt (8000 lm) is equal to 80w @ 100 lumens per watt (8000 lm)
and already we are seeing 150 l/w diodes. Yippee

Lumens per sft is the answer

I disagree. Lumens are a good measure of intensity but not spectral quality.

@OP: 250 watts of quality intensity and spectrum should do you well. If you get the right light you can flip right in the same tent.
