Good Idea or Bad? PICS!!

I made my own growbox out of carboard and aluminum foil. I cut holes in the sides of th ebox and I have 2 60-watt flourescent lamps (super budget) that will be on it 24/7. But at night I have to close the box and I am afraid that there wont be enough air circulation for that 8 hrs. Is this a good idea or not?? Please comment. Plants healthy 6 days old..

you should try to make some room for a fan :]

unless the box is airtight, it will be fine for those 8hrs...not the best idea though, using tinfoil....

Hmmm i'd say youre on the edge there. Despite what most people say cfl's do give off al ot of heat. On top of that youre using aluminum foil which is a much better heat reflector than light reflector. So you kinda are creating an oven in there when you close the door. I'd say go get your self a nice pc fan from radioshack or new egg or whatever and you'll be set. Here's a link to the one that i use:

I wired it up to an old gamecube transformer and it works amazing. Set it up so that the pc fan is pulling hot air out of the chamber right next to the lights and cut a passive intake hole that is double the size of the pc fan at the bottom of the chamber. This will give you a negative pressure cabin so you don't have to worry about creating a completely air tight chamber and give you the option to upgrade to a carbon scrubber later when the smell gets bad during flowering.

you should have used that foil to make a hat!! FDD is having a contest! Foil is not good for a reflector. It reflects heat not light like you want. Flat white paint is better than foil.

That'd be fine for circulation.

You'd still have that hot stale air inside the cabin though. If you don't want to see potential heat problems you'll need to add some exhaust somehow. Maybe just leave the door cracked a bit so the clip fan could potentially push some air out the crack in the door but id say thats a big "IF".

Nix the tin foil as soon as possible too, its just asking for problems. I found a nice mylar table cloth at a party store that works amazing. It was $2 for a 6' x 10' table clothe. There are also some nice mylar backed insulations at homedepot that aren't too expensive that could be possibilities.

Air circulation is very important and if I were you, I would look for a way to get fresh air in there all the time.

I just got done responding to another thread saying I can't even count how many times I've seen someone trying to grow out of a cardboard box.
