Hey guys Ive been considering and doing alot of research about groing hydro Ive decided Im going with a 5 plant bubbleponics system its really cool. I wanted to have a really nice setup with reflectors and a 400w high pressure sodium light but thats a bit to much for my budget right now. Do you guys think that I should just go ahead and buy the cfl now grow save and then buy all that or just wait... Im thinking I cant go wrong because atleast Ill be getting started and I can always use the light. But the question I have is how much lower will my yield really be? I no it will be lower but can I still produce and ok amount? Thanks...

The 400w HPS system will give you much better results but CFL's also work pretty darn good too :hump:

Buy some flouros for veg and by the time your ready to flower...you will hopefully have enough cash to get the HPS.

I would also advise making your own AERO system because bubbleponics is hard for beginners because its a DWC. Makin water temps hard to control.+ Aeor is way better. less disease more control. (the pic was provided by Stinkbud in his Harvest a pound every three weeks journal)[a must for the ultimate aero setup.]

If you must use CFLs, let's get a couple basics out of the way:

1. Make sure you've got right spectrum - daylight/bright white/6500K bulbs for veg, 2700K/soft white bulbs for flower.

2. Don't bother with making reflectors for CFLs or buying hoods for them - hang them vertically from the ceiling, make sure each light is independently adjustable. Place them between and around your plants as close as possible without burning for maximum exposure.

3. Get the most powerful ones you can find. Look for actual wattage, not equivalent wattage. Find 30W or better CFL bulbs if you can.

If you can, you'd probably be better off buying a couple of 150 w HPS security lights for like 20 bucks a piece. Each would do well for two plants.
