Glass on LEDs?

So Giixer sent me some lights and 3 of them (were at the bottom) got the glass broken. They work perfectly fine... but the glass is broken.


So my questions..
Is it okay to run them even without the glass?
I have some duds I could try and put the glass from broken lights into the lights that work just have broken glass I guess...
But if its okay then why bother.

Some LED companies sell their lights without glass to improve the put wattage.

I'm just saying I have a couple with shattered glass. What does the glass do? Is it necessary?

No, it really just keeps things clean. You should be fine. I have to ask, whey do you have over 14 lights? Feel free to just say none of you business, I am just curious and you won't hurt my feelings

maybe it stops the plants from touching them and burning both the plant and led?

That's the back of the light, means nothing

All the blurple I've had had no GLASS panels, so guess these do

I'd contact the sender personally

I'm assuming the front glass panel smashed, during travel the broken glass shifted OR when he took the light out of the box the glass was displaced OR it was rearranged to show the glass was broken.

Either way,

@OP if it turns on and you're smart enough not to touch hot things, it should work.

Are these “ returns “ or something ?

Glass is usually to protect led from moisture and such. Too much trouble to ” hack “ them up for glass.
Looks like those lights are more trouble than they are worth .... burnt strings.

There is a sheet of glass on them to protect the led's from dust and such. They should technically perform better without it. Than again I agree, they are new, contact the manufacturer.

The glass thats between the LEDs and the plants. The only glass panel on LED grow lights!

Mine never had any, why I wondered

Guys. I am affiliated/sponsored by Giixer. The owner over in China has sent me quite a few brand new lights. He offered to send me some returns he had at an amazon warehouse. 5 of them are brand new still. 2 of them have broken glass and work 100%. 1 is completely fucked.

My questions were

Is it okay to run them without the glass panel?
What is the purpose of the glass panel?

The 3 lights that were at the bottom of the box got the glass shattered. These were 100% free and useless to the manufacturer I assume. Thats why they were offered to me.

Hey bud, nobody is being down on you for your lights, just curious about the giant pile of them. I for one would be thrilled to have a manufacturer sending me free shit to try out so good on you. As I said in my posts to you, they will be fine to run. As a matter of fact they will likely perform a slight bit better without the glass between the led's and the plants. The glass is just there to seal off the led's from dust, dirt and buildup.

The No Veg and No Bloom might be very easily repaired. Could be something as simple as a switch or bad solder joint.
If you have a meter I would poke through it and check the continuity.
