Getting ready for my med card!!!!!

Hello all, I am waiting patiently for my med card, and I am trying to gather as much information as possible before I dive right into everything. I live in Michigan and I have a empty garage approximately 500 sq ft. I would like to put a couple of grow tents inside of it hoping I can squeeze 2 6X6 sun huts inside so I can have two separate rooms one for vegging and another for flowering.

  • My first issue is with the garage being partially insulated and Michigan winters can be so unfucking forgiving with the temperatures reaching in the teens easily, can I get away with placing an electric space heater inside of the tents to fight the temperature drops without causing a scene out of the movie backdraft? Or do I wanna try and just heat the whole garage with its own separate heating unit? I am trying so stay within my budget without breaking myself.

  • My second issue is will I have to run the intake tubing to the outside of the garage to pull in fresh air?

  • And thirdly I'm hoping to do white widow how many can I place in 36 sq ft? Michigan law allows for 12 plants but my girlfriend is about to apply so I figured that I should be able to stagger my harvest with at least 8 in veg, 8 in flower and 8 drying and curing.
I have been learning alot from these boards but I just wanna get some input about my situation from you pot masters!!!!!! I'm a noob, so please be gentle with me!!!!!

well as far as your heat issue, if your usuing 1000w bulbs you shouldnt have any issues with cold. All i do is redirect the heat from my hoods back into the room through ducting when it hits winter time. I even have ducting running through a vent in the wall to my house, it keeps it pretty toasty inside so i dont gotta blow more money on heating the damn place.

oh and as far as the plant count. dont count the drying and curing as plants, that counts towards the amount of bud you can have on hand. so go with 12 veg 12 flower.

I figured that I should be good with the lights on, but my concern is for the 12/12 area when the lights go off Im guessing the temps are going to drop too low.

No, your right it will get too cold for your plants in the winter season.

Have you thought about building a normal drywall and insulation room inside you garage and (I guess) putting your tents inside there..I would just build walls and doors inside, but that's just me.
It would be easier to insulate and maintain a smaller climate area, it's just a thought. JR

I haven't thought of that, but we rent and don't want to do that many modifications to the place, being that our landlord is pretty cool, but that is a good idea I can look into though!!!!

Thats simple aswell, Direct the heat from you veg room lights into your flower room. DONE. Just be sure to use some sort of light baffle

I m thinking about just all out insulation through the whole garage. Im figuring that insulating the rest of the garage wouldn't put a huge dent in my pocket but I'm still thinking that Im gonna need some kind of supplemental heat source because Michigan winters are such a pain in the ass with the weather, but this place would be a great grow area when I receive my caregiver card. I know that 400 sq ft can hold a ton of plants, but my main concern making sure that I don't kill them either.
