Hey guys new grower AND new site-user here. Little back story, I just created an account on this site because i remember googling questions and always ending up on here, and finally I decided to post, so idk if this is even the right place to post it, sorry if that's the case.
ANYWAY, this is going to be pretty long so im going to break it up into chunks for an easier read, should you be looking for a specific part. This is just kind of a story of my grow so far and i would love and appreciate any and all advice.
Why I Started: I am a pretty heavy smoker, not really on purpose. People just hit me up and I kinda just end up smoking like 5 or 6 blunts a day, and its pretty much been an every day thing, not bragging cus its really not shit, im just explaining my backstory man. But one day my friend and i were smoking a blunt of some stupid loud and he had 6 seeds from the dude he got it from, and i told him i really wanted to grow bud one day. He said i didnt have the balls and that very day i went to walmart and lowe's and picked up some shit and started growing! But i didnt just do it for the fuck of it. Im currently 20yrs old and my goal is to move to a legalized state when im 21 and become an apprentice under a master grower and learn all the ins and outs so that one day its legalized country-wide i can move back to my hometown and run a dispensary that will contribute to my neighborhood and its surroundings. So this grow is the first of hopefully a lifelong duty of providing QUALITY medicine to the people. No shady dealers, no misinformation, and NO MIDS.
1st grow box: Throughout this grow ive made many changes and adjustments in hoped to get an awesome first grow. So this is about my very first setup. (Im sorry i dont have pics of this box, i had to destroy the evidence of it because humanity just hasn't fucking chilled out yet...)
I began with just a normal everyday Rubbermaid tote lined with aluminum foil as my initial grow box. I stood it where the actual bottom was against the wall and the shortest side of the tote was the bottom, and the side with the cap opens towards me. I had 6 seeds, supposedly 3 sour d and 3 pineapple kush, i smoked the bud both came from and it was loud so i didnt care to be honest. I placed each seed in some Miracle-Gro in a red solo cup. The cups were placed along the bottom under 3 650 lumen 6500k CFLs on a 24 hour light schedule. I just cut holes in the left and right of the tote, put the bulb through the hole, and screwed it into a plug in socket attached to an extension cord. The middle light coming from the top was the same except it dropped down close to the plants and i pulled it up as i seen growth... Along with that i cut a 5 inch square in the side and placed a small desktop fan facing in and small 1/4 inch sized holes in the other side for airflow.
1st Box Growth: About 2 days after i began seeing some seedlings in 3 cups. A day later i seen seedlings in 5, the last one never ended up sprouting. So im down to 5 cups now, the seedlings have passed their initial 2 round leaves and have another set of 2 serrated leaves. 3 of them are clean an beautiful, the other 2 grew mutated-like and eventually i threw them out for space reasons. This goes for about 2 weeks
2nd Grow Box: the plants have started shooting up, at this point the plants are probably 9-10" tall plus their pots. I cut the top of the tote off and cut the bottom out of another tote then screwed it onto the top. Wasnt sturdy but Im cheap and it worked. i added another cfl at the top. I topped the plant resulting in two nodes and switched to a 12/12 light cycle and also added a red and blue LED flowering grow light i found at menards idk why i just said fuck it, it hardly produces any heat too... this goes on for about a week or two.
3rd Grow Box: Now the plants have reached just over a foot tall but i havr seen a lot of width growth and eventually I sold one of the plants, i kept one in the original tote, however i moved it from its original clay pot into a much larger plastic pot and replaced the soil with some kind of completely organic one. I do the same with my 3rd one. However i put thr 3rd one in a separate container i made out of a bunch of moving boxes. Its 24"x48"x54" or something, i put one on top the other and duct taped it together, came to the same height as the tote. I used the same setup of the lights and fan but i switched all the lights to 1600 lumen 2700k CFLs. At this point its been 3 weeks aince 12/12 change and the plants begin SOARING but i see no evidence of flowering, making me wonder if this is an autoflower strain?¿?¿ i also began using Fox Farm Big Bloom and Tiger Bloom, i create a neutral concoction of 3 tbsp Big Bloom, 3 tbsp Tiger Bloom, 1 tbsp Unsulphured Molasses(for sugar and microbes), about 1 part milk (proteins, sugars, and natural insecticide) and 9 parts tap water in a gallon jug, mix it, and give half to each plant. And so far they fucking love the shit. No budding just preflowers, but the stem reeks of heaven. I also trim bottom half of fan leaves for light to spread through. I also put a light dampening sheet around to avoid light leaks.
4th Grow Box: Now its 11pm at night, got fired from my job a week ago (got hit by a forklift when i was standing in one spot and they drug test ME but not the methhead) , im thinking about the future and how im gonna keep from going homeless. When suddenly i decide to give me babies room a make over. (I made a fuckton of noise doing it but my roommate was sound asleep. Basically i eliminated the boxes, cleaned out my closet and threw them fine bitches in there and strung up 5 cfl lights and a led flowering light along my closet. This is about 6-8 weeks since i started and i finally see some white hairs, these girls started to flower!!!! As I'm writing this post i am about a week past seeing the first signs of flowering. The pictures i have of the flowering is a week old but i will update it when my lights turn back on at 7pm, also the site is having a problem with uploading pics, so stay tuned and they will come!
Thank you to all who have took the time to read this and those that will take the time to help. I will continue updating this until i spark this stuff up. I welcome any and all advice, however i will say that i do plan on keeping CFLs as my light due to restrictions in my current place.
I will also begin my search for a cannabis related occupation in January of 2018.
