Hello Forum and good day!

I wanted to see if i can get some feedback on this germinating set-up i have placed under my 50 Gallon Fish Tank.

Using 4 27Watt CFL's about 2-3" inches from the sprout
Lined the inside with reflective Radiant Barriar
Small Clipable Fan for general air circulation
One CPU Fan at the bottom for air intake
Once CUP Fan at the top for exhaust

Issue: Temps climb above 90 with the doors closed

Thanks anything suggestions that you guys/gals can provide would be very much appreciated.

Thanks - jj

Alright...you got me. Sprouting it is. I have germainated these seeds using the very effective Paper Towel Method, now i have them under here until they are 6-8" where i can move them into my grow tent. With that said, what did you think of the set-up?

Depends what strain your growing... I'm growing sweet seed fast bud and my plants seem unaffected by upper 90's.

With your fan for air circulation , and your intake fan

your not having enough air exhausted out

you want more air to be going out through your exhaust then the air that is in

once you start exhausting more air then what is in your temps will start to drop some

maybe this can give you a general idea

COMPARISON OF CABINET DESIGNS

1. Simple Cab - one chamber, no scrubbers or restrictions to airflow.

CFM = 3.16*Watts/deltaT
where deltaT = 10 *F

Intake Area = 2 x Exhaust Area
Fans - Axial/Computer Fans due to minimal pressure loss

Example: A 400 W HPS in a 3 x 3 x 4 cabinet needs 126 CFM of cooling for a 10*F temp rise above room temperature.
The 36 cuft cabinet is ventilated at over 3 ACpM.

Pro:
Easy to build
Fans - axial

Con:
plants stink up the place
plants are stressed by too much airflow where 5 Minutes between Air Changes is all that is needed.
