Genetics vs Environment ... add your opinion here

Hiya,

I've been doing some pondering about Genetics vs Environment (for an outdoor grow).

Assuming that Billy:
= starts off with prime seed
= but does not feed or supplement nute his plants

Assuming that Bob:
= starts off with average seed
= and he prepares a good compost base, waters well, feeds his plant lovingly, and monitors his plants, adding appropriate nute supplement to his plants

Who will end up with the best - stickiest most potent - produce ??

Comments and opinions solicited.

^It all depends on how deficient/mistreated he allows the plant with the good genetics, to become. If it's green and healthy, the average strain doesn't have a prayer. Nutes don't boost anything, they keep things at optimum levels. As long as those levels are met, they're met. Any more than that, is overfert.

Genetics are critical. All plants start with a max potential, determined by it's genetics. It's our job to bring them as close to that point, as we can. You can't overstep that point, with cool products called "Bloom Booster""Bud Candy", etc,...they're just nutes with cool names, nothing special. Nothing is boosted 'above and beyond'. Sure, you can mistreat a plant with good genetics, and have an average strain out-perform it. That's not rocket science.

Agreed 100% you can't improve the natural genetics with tender loving care but you can bring out all of its potential. So, IMHo it is more advantagous to use the best genetics possible for your growing enviroment than to use average genetics and hope that you can bring out its best.
One other thing to be aware of in selecting your genetics for outside. Growing your plants outside with indoor genetics is an intense labor of love with many pitfalls you will encounter along the way. Select what was bred for your type of grow so that you will be able to bring out all its goodness the breeders have put into it.
Happy growing and always have fun with your grow.

Outdoors adds sooo many variables. If your friend isn't going to water them frequently he will end up with weak/dead plants.. around here he would at least
