how do you tell the difference between indica and sativa and if you are growing bag seeds can you tell which one they are and also can you find out the strain from bag seeds?

I copied and Pasted this:

"The Differences between Indica and Sativa Cannabis plants:

Fat Leaves and Short Bush = INDICA

Thin Leaves and Tall Bush = SATIVA

Indica....higher CBD than THC equals heavier, sleepy type of high. Yield is usually higher than Sativa, and shorter growing season. Better for indoor growing, because they don't get as tall.

Sativa....higher THC than CBD equals cerebral, soaring type of high, more energetic Yield is usually lower than Indica, but is very potent. eg: Thai Sativa grow taller and have a longer flowering period, so they are better suited for outdoors.

Sativa's typically take longer to germinate and flower, and they grow more gangly then indica breeds."

You can tell if it is Sativa or Indica but there is no way you will be able to accurately tell what strain it is. Maybe by doing some research online and by comparing pictures you will be able to gueestimate. :)

DownOnWax hits the right points for physical characteristic and high..

Being bagseed, hopefully you still have the bag.. The smell of the weed from the bag is a good tip, too -- well-cured (and sometimes seedy) sativas have a spicy smell --- smells like something you might crush up put on your food, or a piney smell. Inidicas have that greasy, hashy odor with a little piney smell mixed in. I've got a bag of Thai and one of superskunk in front of me right now -- totally distinctive on smell, high, and phsyical appearance.

Another thing you might recall from the bag --- stem thickness and structure in the tops. Inidica = stout, short-noded stem all the way up Sativa = thin, spindly, zig-zag stems at the top.

It is also highly likely that what he has is a cross, a hybrid that is both sativa and indica so it may have traits that are somewhat more similar to one than the other in that one type may be more dominant in the cross but it is still a cross and will also share some degree of each type’s traits or characteristics and that could be a 50/50 split or anything up to being mostly one or the other but still being a cross the high will be somewhat different than a pure indica or pure sativa and the high/buzz will reflect it.
