I've got a 13 day old plant, I know I shouldn't be able to tell gender yet; and I know how to when it gets preflowers, but are their any signs or ways to increase chance of detecting (even without certainty) gender early on?

No, not without the preflowers. Some say you can tell by how bushy they are, etc....but that's not true, for the most part. However, it does seem to work out that my nicest, tallest plant always turns out to be a male, but I think that's just been shit luck.LOL
