I've recently created a garbage can grow box. It has a volume of 3.5 cubic feet (30" tall by circular diameter of
The sides of the can are all covered with reflective HVAC ducting tape.
I have 5 small seedlings about 1-2 inches tall growing in it right now under two 23W CFL bulbs...They are about 8-10 inches away from tops of seedlings.
The temperature in there remains steady at 77-78 Faranheit.
I've been wanting to up the lighting to four 23W CFL bulbs but when I tried to do so...the temp rose to 89-90 Farenheit in a matter of hours. There is currently a small circulation fan pushing air around the garbage can.The fan actually seems like it might be pushing the hot air produced by the bulbs down towards plant level :/
I just went out and bought a small PC fan rated at 37CFM that I plan to put near the bulbs( all the bulbs are quite close to one another) so that it can exhaust some heat produced by the bulbs.
Will this fan exhaust enough air?
Any suggestions on bringing the temps down in my garbage can?
Thanks in advance if you choose to reply!
