.....Into a giant Weed!

Basically mate there's lots of ways and people argue because there way worked which contradicts someone else's way. Personally I soak them in 21c water for 12-24 hours in a dark place until they sink (give them a wee poke at the start, mid and end), this means they have absorbed water and are ready for the next step. Make sure not to leave them in water for more than 24 hours as this can cause them to drown.

After this I put them on a wet paper towel and put them again in a dark place at around 21c, tho 19-24c should work well. As soon as the tap root emerges, basically not even coming out the seed I plant them into Root Riot Cubes and place them in my dome at 22c.

Again, this is just my way, I'm sure others will contribute :)

Thx . As first time i might try a few different ways to see which i find the best . Kinda figure the first grow is gonna be a learning curve :)

This method worked for me for DWC, I was afraid I would break the taproot with the Paper towel method.

Soak rock wool in 5.5 ph water and drop them in the little hole, keep wet and warm. Add light when it pops out. Put in Hydroton when roots are showing thru rock wool.

I am going to try Rapid Rooters next time.

basically as nutty said, for every grower there's a method.
As such, heres mine.

Soak seed in room temp water in shot glasses for 24 hours (never heard of seeds drowning, must look that up) with a cup over them to protect from light.

After 24hrs i place my seed on a piece of kitchen towel, fold it up and dunk it in my shot glass to soak the kitchen towel.

Place seed in resealable frezzer bag (fill with air before sealing) and put in a dark place.

Leave for a day or Three.

Get really annoyed at being unable to get my seeds the right way up in my bio-pots after tap root appears.

Smoke a joint.

Try again.

Grow.

Personally had a 100% success rate with erm . . around 20-25ish seeds.

most importantly have fun trying.

I do the water soak but skip the paper towel, straight into damp soil in a solo cup, cover with a sandwich bag to hold in the moisture. My plants poke through about 2-4 days after that.

As this is your first grow, do as mother nature does ( and me too) put the seed in dirt, water ... not much simpler than this.....

I will actually soak a rapid rootter in PH'ed water ( 1/2 mil per gal of voodoo juice, B-52 per gal ), then place rapid rooter in a clear dixie cup placed inside a colored dixie cup, filled with moist ( NOT WET) Fox Farm's Happy Frog soil. I will then take my seed (point down) and place in the hole 1/4" down, cover with a little soil. I will put them under 24 hour light until all have broke ground then flip to 16 hour light. I will use a small 10cc syringe to give them PH adjusted water just enough to keep the rapid rooter moist, they wont get there first REAL watering ( where the soil around rooter plug is watered) for a day or 2 after they have popped ground. I want the TAP root to seek out water so I give them very little water. I have VERY good germ rate 90% + last few runs were 100%.

Here are a couple of shots 2-3 days after puting them in dirt. 010.jpg010.jpg

One last point, you could use a humidity dome (sandwich bag over cup) but I don't.

But what the hell do I know I am just a stoner
