wow well i typed out the entirety of this about 15 mins ago tried to submit and i had timed out :/

oh well
hello all,
im vapesChronically
been reading the forums for years out of curiosity, but i decided that i would try my hand at growing
ive never done this before and would greatly appreciate any tips, advice or experiences you may have to offer
ive tried a few runs so far, killing all of them for various reasons but im on day 24 as of writing this and its not dead yet *fingers crossed*

here goes

materials
fox farm ocean forest
perlite
standard spray bottle for misting the leaves between watering/feeding
the water i use is either ozarka or brita filtered(dechlorinated)

fox farm: grow big(GB), big bloom(BB), and tiger bloom(TB)
microbe brew(MB), kangaroots(KR), and sledgehammer(SH)
i will soon have:FF open sesame beastie bloomz and cha ching(no shorthand for these expensive bastards)

the box
a converted armoire with mylar stapled to the inside
33x20x33in
advanced led ds100 led
8in oscillating fan

day1
planted seed directly into substrate about a quater inch down into FFOF w40-45% perlite
ran about 3/4 of a gallon of ozarka through it to spread out any nutes that come in the soil to ensure uniformity
small soft container i think about a cup or a cup and a half of mix
put lights to 19/5 about 20 inches from the softpots
no fan yet, door cracked

day4
seed sprouted while i was sleeping and is now about 1/4 inch above the soil line
shell is stuck to the seed leaves
i removed the "unstuck" half with tweezers
left the "stuck" half alone for the time being
soil has been tested at 7.0 ph
about 5 oz water a day
day6
seedling now 1 inch tall
moved one inch closer to lights with an algebra book
1st node developing but tiny

day7
now 1.6 inches
fan now oscillating away

day9
seedling now 1.9 inches
still only has seed leaves and one set of normal leaves

day11
fed for the first time today
5ml/.5gal FF microbe brew and kangaroots
was left alone without watering for 48 hrs for first time and its not dead yet, big accomplishment thus far

day13
seedling now 2.5 inches
fed again at previous strength
spoke to FF rep today he had a few helpful things to say:
-FFOF_good for seedlings and cuttings as long as no other nutes are given for a couple of weeks
-10-20% perlite if you want(not necessary)
-kangaroots and microbe brew safe for seedlings and cuttings
-you should be aiming to water every third day and to feed twice a week
-to transplant into final container in 3-5 days(after hearing my situation)
second set of leaves now developing

day14
seedling now 1.75"
second set of leaves turning into fan leaves
good growth shown

day17
height 3"
transplanted in FFOF w/ 25-35% perlite
transplanted briefly before "night"
cut lights from 19/5 to 18/6

day19
upped watering/feeding volume considerably to compensate for new, larger, pot
until water ran out the bottom in a healthy amount
3rd node now developed(still small)
three point fan leaves
4th node developing nicely
ph in 6.8
ph out 6.4
decided that i am going to mainline ASAP
the guide on growweedeasy says that it is best achieved when the plant has 5 to 6 total nodes
1st node developing some tiny brown/black spots
spots are manifesting only in areas that are the most shaded
not spreading to other parts of plant
does not match anything under diagnostic pics/sites

day20
plant height 3.75"
distance from lights:12.5"
4th node coming in, now about 1/4"
3rd node still developing
looks to be a 3 point fan leaf, but the "main" is thick (1/4") whereas the "shoots" are less than 1/8"
going to try to put LED's in "full spectrum" for a few hours

day23
plant height about 4.5" (measured yesterday)
it would seem that the "full spectrum" experiment was a bad one
some spots now on upper leaves
spots brownish without real patterns
looks like light stess

4th node still small and up pointing
developing a more "classic" look
looks to be 5+ leaves per side of the node
a few of the older leaves are splitting from 3 point fans into 4 or 5 point fans

day24
plant now 5 inches tall
14" from lights(just moved down another textbook due to early signs of light stress
have declared "veg" stage
im not sure when exactly this happens, ive read everything from; veg state is from 2nd set of leaves, to, veg state is declared after 1st 30 days
fed more or less according to the FF schedule
FF: MB KR BB
5ml+5ml+10ml/.5 gallon
ph in 6.6
ph out 6.4

day25
5th node developing as 4th node did
pulled apart upturned leaves to reveal a tiny 6th node

just spoke to FF rep, he advised:
-to dial KR and MB back to 5ml/GAL(ive been doing .5 gal)
insert 5ml/gal GB
-if a leaf is more than 50% damaged or dieing to go ahead and prune it
-to pick up spinasad and/or neem oil for pest control/leaf health
he further advised that neem oil is better for veg but that you dont really want to spray oil on your pistils/flowers if you can help it, so try to squash any bugs you may have before you do the 12/12 flip
well thats where im at now ill post the pics i have as soon as i post this
please feel encouraged to give any tips, advice, or experiences you may have
one love_:leaf:

No Pics ....shame! but..Welcome to RIU.org
Your onestopshop for all matters cannabis, take a look around but I should advise you that the fabulous "Like" button, is broken, instead buried below is the equivalent, reputation button that works almost the same., so if you see or read something you like, well! you can't 'like' until it's fixed, but you can click the Rep button to show your appreciation.

thanks for the reads
it would seem that I am still having issues working the site as I have tried to post this reply twice now lol
but anyway
thanks for the read

as for the lights, I saw a need for LED for stealth/heat management, and I got as high end as I can afford
though I have no reference I think that they are quite powerful the plant doesn't seem to be able to tolerate them much closer than 12-14 inches from the lights w/o showing early signs of light stress
though I will consider adding a cfl or two to supplement/side light

I will also note that my box is only about halfway through its construction
had to put it on pause until some external factors to play out
should be done in the next couple of weeks

Just get some good ventilation sucking the hot hair out you'll be A ok :)

bottom leafs look a little burnt??

as for LEDs I'm a total noob when it comes to them anyway so I'm curious to see how yours turn out

heres some pics from day 26
also as far as the burnt looking leaves on the first node
brn/blk spots started developing only on shaded portion, and never spread to the rest of the plant
then they started to turn yellow (over weeks)
im actually thinking that the leaves might be healing
am considering cutting those two off anyway does anyone have any experience here ive looked through several different sources with many different answers :/
brown spots on second node
thinking maybe light burn from when a few weeks ago i wanted to see how the plant did if i turned the flower setting on the lights on as well as the veg lights
next time i feed im going to add 1 ml grow big to the left over nutes from last watering FF rep recommended 4ml/gal. I measure to the half gallon b/c ozarka jugs are stupid
IMG_1704.jpgIMG_1705.jpgIMG_1706.jpgIMG_1707.jpgIMG_1708.jpgIMG_1710.jpgIMG_1712.jpgIMG_1725.jpgIMG_1726.jpgIMG_1727.jpgIMG_1728.jpgIMG_1730.jpgIMG_1731.jpg
Also these pistil looking things have been coming out since like day 15 or so
are these female indicators or is my noobiness getting the better of me?

day 40
plant height: 5.6 inches
So the zoomed in pic is the second node of this plant where I would like to top for the second time to create four mains, stage two of mainlining the deal is that one of the four nodes (pictured as top growth tip in zoomed pic) is about half the size of the other three growth tips that I intend to be a main
im not sure that it is significant but the closest fan leaf node is a bit crinkled
is this a sign of deformation? Is it an issue? or do plants occasionally grow unevenly at this point? though it never has before...
any knowledge or experience on this issue would be greatly appreciated

read this thread until atleast post #100. read it thoroughly

get away from FF man. when I had my best success with FF I legit used Grow big and BB at 100% alternating them both with a plain water day in between. I'd go GB-H20-BB-H20-GB and so on. Kangaroots and Microbe brew are nearly the same thing, you can use just the MB no problem- mix that with big bloom as theyre both organic and probly work better together. don't use any flower stims until like 3 weeks before flowering then use it only once, if that! work in tiger bloom in exchange for GB 2 time in flowering, literally, 2 only. Fox farms unfortunately doesn't produce the greatest crops. You can get great results, but it's not by using their concentrates or excessive amounts of tiger bloom. Their effective nutes are grow big and big bloom, but for how simple theyre it's very pricey. Take it from me, I too have dumped probably $300 into FF products and could have gotten better results otherwise.

My recommendation to you would be go coco/hydro next time and use H&G or Canna (old H&G company) to get unreal results. When you follow their schedules at reduced strength youll get unreal stuff.
