Found a few worms, chop early?

I’ve got three outdoor blue dream plants that are around 65-70 days flowering. I wanted to go maybe 2 more weeks, as most trichomes are white with some scattered amber. Today while I was looking over the buds I noticed a few worms, which I plucked with tweezers. After a thorough look, I pulled a total of 5. In sure there’s more in there. Should I just harvest and start drying to avoid rot issues?

I agree. I'd wait it out. Pick up some BT in the meantime and start spraying..copiously. GL!

yeah, looking though other budworm posts it seems like people just try to stave them off. I thought it was more of a “for sure you’ll get bud rot” thing. If there’s only a few more weeks until harvest is it okay to use BT?

thanks!

I dont think this actually happened with ts but I have a sneaking suspicion that many folks have planted a worm or a caterpillar on they're plant and took a pic just so we could make them feel as if it was our choice to chop theyre plant early so they could have smoke.

Il go back to my corner now.

lol I could see that. In this case, though, I don't actually smoke. Just have the space and I garden so I gave it a shot. It’s definitely a pretty unique growing challenge. Planning on giving what I get away to friends and family.

You will get bud rot where the worms are eating. They have bateria in their saliva and their frass has bacteria in it too. There's a timeline to the progession of rot. You can spray with BT right up to harvest. I'd recommend washing your pot too to get any residual frass out of your gals. Use H202+water to disinfect.

Your comment is unhelpful and speculative.

Awesome, I’ve actually got some BT so I’ll go spray them now. I’m in the California foothills so I’ll be washing anyways due to all this ash. I appreciate the help!

I live in the foothills north side of the San Gabriel mountains in LA county. I spray every week with BT. I have never had any bud rot caused by worms, they eat around the stem and the bud dries on the plant. I cut it off about an inch below and above and press it into rosin. My average humidity here is 10% to 15% at harvest time. Depending where you live makes quite a bit of difference

Good to know. I’m east of Sacramento, so it’s dry but not quite that dry. 20-25%. How do you dry your bud? My wife doesn’t want me stinking up the house, so I was thinking of using the pump house. I’m worried that it’ll be too warm and dry without a tent or ac or something.
