Flushing

Why are some people on here saying you DONT need to flush?? I thought you flushed to get rid of stored nutrients and energy and also to stress them so it produces more tric's. I flush my plants for 10days in a nft system and have no problems

I have a thread on this somewhere. Flushing is a corrective action, not a necessity. For one, why would you want to strip your medium of vital nutrients during the most critical stage of the process?. You wouldn't, unless your medium was screwed up to begin with. If you use straight MG soil, you have to flush or your final product will have a distinctive soil flavor. Your grows are hydro, something I know zero about other than the fact plants uptake nutrients differently. In fact, I have read that molasses cannot even be used for hydroponics b/c the plant cannot absorb it?.

its a matter of preference .. some do, some dont .. everyone has a reason to do it the way they do .. i personally do and have my reasons .. but thats the way i grow

its more like on your preference, not a hard and fast rule, what smoke do you prefer. if its organic, then recommend flushing and thats why its done...
Its not rocket science but if doing should be done right, there is more on that in this forum...Hope it helped

i think am gonna keep flushing for 10days before harvest just so i know there gonna be no ferts still stored, i also keep them in complete darkness for 48hrs before i chop em down and have great results, dont know if any of you guys have tried this before??

i havent done it but know of a few that do .. keep it in darkness .. from what they told me it makes the plants create more resin .. although i cant say one way or the other .. and i also flush before harvest , usually the last 2-2 1/2 weeks

happy growin

I have found that leavin them in darkness for 48hrs puts the plant in shock which intern makes the plant produce more resin i have 2 northern lights on the go now cant wait til harvest! check out my grow journal

If you are using a flushing agent like Clearex, there is no need to flush for 10 days. 1-2 days is fine. Any longer and you are depriving your plants of the nutrients needed for that crucial final push of growth that bulks up and tightens up the flowers. Stressing a plant by taking it's nutrients away will not cause it to become more potent. Though darkness can help foster resin production in the last phase. 2-1/2 week flush..... seriously? Nothing like curing a deficient plant....

And for whoever said it... 'molasses can't be used in hydro because the plant can't absorb it'... no plant can absorb molasses, they drink water. it is used to feed microbes which then break down nutrients in an organic-style grow. using raw molasses in hydro will create a slime explosion.

well my last crop i got 21 n a 1/2 ozs off 4 sweet tooth clones under a 600w hps and i flushed for last ten days and had no probs with deficiencys so il stick with what i done last time Mr Bond cheers

hate to tell you but feeding only water for 2-1/2 weeks does creates deficiencies and it definitely stops growth. if your plant doesnt have what it needs, that would be deficient, evidenced by your yield. 5oz per plant in hydro isnt exactly mind-blowing. imagine the yields you'll get when you start to understand how a plant works. do yourself a favor, grow for the extra 2 weeks, then use a flushing agent to clean it all out in 2 days. i dare you to come back and tell me that your buds didnt gain weight over those two weeks.

good luck

I feel that the plants need the nutrients the last two weeks, as they are very active during this time. Why do you want to take away what they need? I have never flushed but I always do a full one month cure with great results.

i flush when the pistols are at least 95% brown and when the flower bracts are fully swollen for ten days not 2 1/2 weeks. So after ten days the plant will use the stored nutrients it has, plus plants make there own food by utilising the carbs and sugars which it gets from the light which is the by product of Photosynthesis. at the end of the day this method works for me not saying i know it all, And my last crop was 4 clones in 1 20ltr nft which does not have a lot of root space thats why i have only got 2 in this time so i get better root structure which will give me healthier plants and prob bigger yield per plant
