Fluorescent tubes for Scrog veg

Hi I was wondering if using 2ft fluorescent tubes to veg my 1 plant scrog would be a good idea? The enclosure is 30x20x36 and I'm using a 250w HPS for flower.

Will it take a substantial amount of time longer to veg using 2 cool white bulbs instead of a 250 MH? I am mainly concerned about power consumption during the veg phase and using some 2 foot fluorescents would save me a ton of $$$ since I already have the fluoro fixtures.

If I were to use the 2 footers I was thinking of just sitting them maybe 2 inches above the screen. Would that be effective?

yeah they would work, they will be slower if you just use regular fluorescents it will take a while, but you could use t5 fluorescents. they work well for veg, and then just go with the hps to flower, in fact you could also do cfl's. make sure you use the daylight cfl's or if you use the tubes try to get the spectrum as close to 6500k as possible for veg, good luck man.

i'd just use the hps......but yes it is possible, depending on the tubes ya might wanna toss in 2-3 cfls, what color spectrum and wattage are the tubes? how many lumens do they put out?
