Never! You can put them under 12/12hr as soon as you get good preamy adult leaves, or you can wait, it depends on the type of grow that you schedule. I've found that by vegging it stunts certain aspects of growth, that's why I put mine in right away. I no longer use metal halide for anything. I've replaced my metal halides with mercury vapor, much like a mh but frosted.

Hi all, do you have to waite for pre-flowers befor changeing lights to 12/12,
cheers

Like krazey said... you can do 12/12 anytime you want to. You can do it from seed even if you so choose to do so.. I don't recommend doing 12/12 from seed though.. tends to invite uneven nodes and WAY too much stretching.

good luck man.

peace.

Even if you put your seedling in as I suggested you will still get a viable opportunity to snip a clone. I always take the cola and only about 4-5 inches of it to set in as the clone. The clone stays under 24/0hr light. When the seedling shows sex then you will know what to do next, I'm sure. Remember to code each clone(I use colored thumb tacks) so you know which seedling it came from. Just to avoid confusion on another subject I'd like to say here, for the record that I cut my snips from my moms about one foot in length for cloning, (or in another term, rooting).
