Flood and drain/ ebb and flow ph question

Hi guys,
I am planning to fire my tables up again after many years.
I grow on 4x4 ebb and flow tables filled with hydroton clay and I’m using gh flora.

I have been reviewing and refreshing myself on the basics, but one question I have is on ph.
I seem to remember keeping my ph between 4.7 and 5 and having great results.

Are these memories the result of to much weed smoke and time or is this something people did or still do?

everything I see on the forum that are still alive say 5.7 ph for hydro

Anyone care to chime in with their opinions?

I’ve personally never tried that low of a PH but I find the sweet spot is 5.8 in veg and 6.0-6.2 in flower.
all that’s I’ve read says no lower than 5.5 in hydro and no higher than 6.5 but that’s just what I’ve read. I personally have let mine drift pretty far up without I’ll affect but it wasn’t for long so can’t say if they would be fine over time at that level or not.
Have you heard of the torus hydro device? It’s a filter looking device that you toss in your res and it keeps the PH within range but also makes it bounce around so it’s not always at one level because plants take up nutrients at different PH levels. There is several grafts online showing what nutrients are taken up at what PH level.
