Any plant you have that's photo period will switch when you go 12/12. That being said you should base the decision on the size of your growing area and the stretch of the strain you have in it. If you need a light distance of 18" and 6" of space above the light then you have 2 feet less than the height of your tent max to work with for plant height including pot and pot risers. If your tent is 80" or 6.5' roughly that gives you about 4.5' for the top of your plants. If the strain your growing say they stretch x2 you're going to want to flip before they get to be 2' roughly. That way they can double(2x) to 4' and still leave you some wiggle room for extra stretch. Indicas tend to stretch less and sativa's tend to stretch a lot more. The breeder should be able to give you the info you need. Best of luck with your girls.

What is the strain and how tall is your growing space? Also how much space do you need for your lights? If it's a really stretchy sativa it could grow to be 4' if you flipped now while a pure inbred indica would hardly gain any height at all. That's why knowing the strains behavior is so important to maximizing your space. It's also what makes growing different strains in the same tent challenging to some degree as far as managing light distance sometimes.

I have 1 Applefritter, 1 chemdawg x SkywalkerOG, and 1 not sure.

I believe 2 sativas & 1 hybrid

Is that feet or meters? If it's feet then I'd be flipping them right now for sure. Sativa's are going to double in stretch at least, if not more, so your plant is going to be 2' tall which only leaves 2' of space above for the light. Most lights of decent strength need between 16"-30" of space between the lights and plants depending on the light so you could already be cutting it close depending on how they stretch. You really need to find out the breeder info on the seeds if possible and the recommended light height. Then it's just a simple matter of math. Otherwise it's a guessing game and you can end up with plants growing up into the lights and getting either stressed or badly burned. Training can help by tying them down as they stretch or more stressful training like snapping the branches at a 90 degree angle but that takes practice. Look up a technique called super cropping for ways to bend the top branches and maintain the height but proceed carefully as you can break branches if you're too aggressive. Here's what it looks like.IMG_20220401_110112343.jpg
This is a plant I'm growing right now that stretched a lot more than I expected so I had to super crop it to keep it's height under 48" which is the max height I like to have in my tent. Once the 90 degree break heals it forms a knuckle at the joint that's supposed to be a benefit to the branch as far as water and nutrient uptake. I'm not sure about the science but it does create an even canopy and seems to make for happy cola's. This is the canopy of the plant now that the stretch is over. You could use some posts and ties to further even it up if you wanted but I'm disabled and sometimes the extra work just isn't worth it to me.
In the future with a height of 4' I'd look for indicas and indica dominant hybrids or grab a taller tent for sure. Sativa's like to get tall.IMG_20220409_110333456~2.jpg

Yeah I have one hybrid she's Chemdawg x SkywalkerOG from Irvineseedco, she's only 44 days, topped her 2/3 days ago and she just took off, she's maybe an inch from being 12". I was thinking of getting a trellis thing lol, but no funds till the first, so guess I'm be looking up LST tech. Thank u so much for the input

I've never grown chemdawg but it's known to be kind of a tricky strain to grow. It can be prone to mold and mildew so airflow and keeping your humidity low is going to be very important as you get into flower. It also has a pretty good stretch by itself. I'm not sure how much the Skywalker is going to tame that with the cross but I'd say you should really think about flipping soon just in case the chemdawg genes are dominant and it stretches a lot.
