Flimsy stalks... (1 wk old)

My plants are about a week old, maybe a little more, but they are starting to fall over. The tallest one is about 4 inches tall and just can't stand up on its own. Is this normal, or is there something that typically causes plant stalks to be slim?

4" tall????
Sounds pretty streched to me
How many nodes do your plants have?
How far away from the light is it?
What type of light?

Need more info to correctly diagnose possibilities.

I had a seedling once that had a very flimsy stalk and couldnt hold its own weight. I shaved a couple flat pieces of wood, about 1/4" wide and 1" long, and stabbed them into the rockwool cube around the stem. This worked exceptionally well for me. I named that plant "toothpick" and kept that strain alive as it turned out to be the biggest plant, as well as the best bud growth.

So to sum it up, just try to prop it up somehow.

sounds very stretched
1 week old and 4inches?
try re planting it down to its first set of leaves
and also put a fan on the plants so that they are constantly moving, this wont last long as they will soon be strong enough to fight the highest setting on your fan!

if it is that flimsy that the fan will blow it over then tru making it a leaning and tie it to it lightly so it cant fall over but have the fan on the highest setting.

If your using cfl's get them about 1 inch away from the plant

how many nodes you got? (stalks coming of the main stem)

Sounds stretched, i used to have that problem so i waited untill about 2 weeks old (stalk became thicker) then added some more soil, now it firmly rooted and int going anywhere....

Well I put in an 85 watt CFL and they seem to be doing much better; I guess it was the light. I had to support about 4 of the plants with toothpicks and dental floss (im at college i have to be resourceful), and I'm getting a fan sometime within the week. Thanks for your help guys

You are growing at college? OMG I LOVE YOU!! You have the biggest balls ever, its gonna be hilarious when they flower and you have to explain why your room (maybe even corridor) smells of weed... I just gave you rep++
