Fish tank water as fertilizer for plants?

I have fish tanks, and I was thinking that fish poop and chewed up pieces of food at the bottom of the tanks would make good fertilizer. I've only done it once so far, and the plants seem to be responding well. Anyone else using fish tank detritus as a home grown fertilizer?

research guppyponics started by Steve from the Spice Of Life back in the late 90's while developing strains like Shiskaberry and Grapefruit. HighTimes did an article sometime around the turn of the century about Steve and his Guppyponics. You have to remember though, this was long before companies like Advanced Nutrients, Canna, House and Garden and the likes dominated the nutrient market. Anyways hope this helps...

Yeah, that can work. Nutrients are only used because most people don't know how to feed their plants throughout their entire life cycle without it. It is completely possible to grow the same quality never using "processed" nutrients.

You should write up a guide on how to do that.

I use my old freshwater fish tank water on my vegging plants. It is loaded with nitrogen and phosphorus good for growing plants. I do still feed with veg nutes though as well I just dont need to as much. I may try 1 plant and water it with just fish tank water and see what the results are compared to bottled nutes.

Pulled from a different website...

I feel, after being a shopper for 30 yrs that hydro shops upscale prices simply because it's a niche market and people like to say things like'monsta bud'.
I have a corrugated garden bed 1800x600x600 which I layer with straw and horse or cattle poo,my locally sourced cp comes with worms1000's of them, water everything really well, leave and this produces compost and worm castings,I mix this near black muck with commercial nutefree organic potting mix to mull it out,the sand on which I live comes in handy too.
To get things rocking I use seasol power feeder, seaweed and fish emulsion laced with manuka honey and molasses then watered with soda water(club soda).
Used in 22 ltr buckets it only needs, from seed,to have a topup with seasol and potash halfway through the growing cycle and this method works well.
Please remember this hydro will ONLY allow the plant to grow quickly and grow to it's full genetic profile and won't make the weed any stronger.
FEED THE SOIL...NOT THE PLANT.
Yes I do recycle my soil and reuse eventually.

I use Koi fish water, clear the huge 25 gallon filter and pour that black gold on the plants too. Go all natural, you pop open the ferts that they sell and 10 years from now you will see they are banned as carcinogenics. Cancer causing crap. I go fish water, if a fish dies i bury that bastard by the plant as well. I sometimes even piss n y plants (in the past) I was trying to write a book on by growing experience but so many _ucks out there tell it for free that you cant make money of it. Good/Bad thing is so many wanna be growers out there tell their joke of a story that you just dont know who to trust and believe me, investing a few months into a plant and harvest, you want to know exactly what is going down to the TEE! . I have a celebrity name that people can trust, I can be held accountable for my grow tricks, and my plants turned out donkey dicks! Stuff that would knock an elephant down.I also added bat guano which turned the weed wicked. All natural the way it should be....
I would slice the stalks with razor blades, bend the plants so they can get the most sun exposure to every bud lus it keeps it a low profile grow. I dont take the plants at a young age and go for the quick fix, I let them veg till theplant is fucking huge, then I make that baby flower outside where it can get the real stuff and every trick in the book, the little buds you see online ar ea joke, you need to let the plant s bracelet and then you watch the tricombs to see when they start to turn amber, then you flush it too, dont smoke ferts, flush the plants before you take the buds. ts a timing thing, the nasty ass smell that will freak you out thinking everyone will know you are growing will tell you, it is damn near time to harvest. But again, you have to flush the plants with pure clean water for a week or more. Clear water, not fish shit water, unless you have grown close to your fish...

I loved to pick fresh bud, not even cured or dried, throw them in the microwave and then add it to cup a soup. What a wonderful high that was, donkey dicks my friends, as thick around as your wrist and as long as my flesh banana, over 10 inches. Girls know I tell the truth, they think it is 11///// The stuff you get in the shops isnt weed, it is a joke, people dont remember what a LID was, a bag that had seeds in it, they didnt learn of sensi for years after I had smoked, that was some wicked stuff then but , the natural Columbian Gold, alcapoco Gold, panama red, wow that was weed with seeds that would put you so far down on the couch that you would have to replace the base with a sheet of plywood from laying on it so long. If I ave spelling tha tis wrong, another testimony how good the weed was, no brain cells left.....I smoked since 12, I am 53. Haven't smoke now for a few years but the grow is on again, Buy hydro or shit from a shop and have them put a weed leaf on your grave, go natural and enjoy a real high.
