firsttimer! needs advice

New guy here with first post and lots of questions. Used to grow back in the early 70's, mostly outside with a couple tries indoors under 4' VHO fluorescents(yeah it was that long ago). All bag seed and selecting females, no seed houses, no feminized seeds and no autoflowers. Still did pretty good with it and most of what I grew was as good as what was available to buy-except when the redbud showed up.
Anyway, haven't been in the culture and haven't even taken a hit since about the mid 80's. Man a lot has changed!! I have decided I want to do a small indoor grow (medical of course) in a state where it may or may not be legal. I have a 3X3 tent with 6 50w CoB's( 3 ea 3000, 3500) and a 3000 quantum 288 135w. I am probably going to do top fed DWC. Never done hydro before but I am a fairly accomplished vegetable grower. I understand nutrient, Ph and soil.
Now for the questions- how does my set-up sound so far? And what seeds are good? I'm quessing I would prefer sativa genetics 'cause that's all I know. I definitely know I want to stay off the couch as much as possible! Are feminized and autoflowers as "good" genetically speaking as open pollinated seed( or do you even call them that)?
I would sincerely appreciate any feedback ya'll have. Suggestions, tips or where you think I'm fubar.

Sounds like you on par with the lighting situation. I have a few Auto's I'm growing this spring for an early harvest. They making great strides in Auto's. Some are as potent as regular strains. Now you can choose femanized plant if you don't want to bother pheno hunting a female if you plan to clone. Just pop the seed and it's female. If you look in the Seeds and Strains section you will find all sorts of discussions that may help you choose a strain,... or you can just ask around. Plenty of helpful people on the board here. My only advice is that it's as easy to grow now as it was then. It's only difficult if we choose it to be for one reason or another.

Well I have some feminized WW and regular WW both from seedsman and I believe quality is unnoticeable between the two (labels needed for these girls for sure) as it basically all boils down to genetics and care. I have given many cuts of these two to many heady friends and it has never mattered whether they were fem. or reg. it all came down to care. This has just been my experience with them. I started with reg. and it made it exciting but anymore I prefer fem. Less stress on me sexing. I don't have much personal experience on autos so I cant offer opinions on them. Good luck on the grow!
